Concord 0 Town 0

An entertaining game in which we were clearly the only side looking to play any football and get a result. Unfortunately the less than super-sonic Concord were aided by an inept set of officials who contrived to deny us of a couple of clear Penalty shouts and then managed to more or less lose complete control in the second half.

To be fair, it wasn't a game that deserved two Red cards. There was not a lot of animosity between the players. Nor was it a particularly Physical encounter although, if you'd read some of the crap their players and officials had posted on Twitter you'd be forgiven for thinking it was World War 3! God help them if they ever come up against a really physical side.

Their Chairman tweeted to our mate James Colasanti that it was a spitting incident at half time that led to the trouble by the tunnel. Apparantly Mr Colasanti has photo's that will be in The Echo next week. Although he also said it was "one of the most even games you're ever likely to see", so that means he's probably got a crayoned sketch to publish.

Any way, enough of the "whingers on the rock". We totally controlled the game but just didn't quite have enough in front of goal. At least we're not losing, but with all the other results going against us today it's starting to get a bit congested at the top of the table.

Bring on the 'ornchurch!

A draw and a clean sheet away from home is not a bad result, it just feels a bit worse given that everyone else won.

Positives were a confident display from Dale, 90 minutes from Jerome and a fine performance from Oates who I thought was MoTM for us today. Defences were well on top though and our fowards struggled to make much impression against the know-how of their back line. The referee was far too whistle happy and destroyed the game but we were also again guilty of making it too personal. It's what they want and we fell for it again. I'm still failing to see what one or two of ours bring to the table - we seem to be replacing young ones with old ones at the moment and that's a shame for me, but I'm sure New Lodger will tell me to look at the table.

Merry Christmas everyone, hopefully we'll get a good game and a good gate against Hornchurch a week Tuesday

Aparantly one of our fans spat at mr Scopes. it's all over twitter! well I was stood right by the gate (as i had been for the whole of the first half) as it all happened. Didn't see anyone spit, but I guess as it's on twitter it must be true.

If you look at our games against them in recent years, they mostly follow the same predictable pattern. As jl implies, the boys need to learn how to deal with it but we never do.

It's not just us though - when we played St Neots earlier in the season, I saw a piece on their Forum about their pre season game against the Beach(sic)boys. Our East Anglian friends were far from impressed by their visitors approach to the game, both on the pitch and from their dugout.

Anyway, win, draw or lose against Hornchurch, it should be worth paying to see.

I agree...no surprise as to what happened at that place...same old same old really...That there was an alledged incident and it was put about on Twitter and that a particular reporter was in receipt was again, no surprise...

That they paint themselves as victims despite taking part in a more nasty and underhand behaviour...again, no surprise....

Their game plan is to get us to react and every season we do just that and lose focus....I for one would be happy to see either club not play each other next season...and given the respective positions of each club, maybe I'll get my wish.

I think I'd have taken a point pre game based on our record there, although as said with everyone else winning it felt disappointing at 4.50.

It was a similar game to the one at our place with more bad feeling added. I thought we looked the better side but didn't have quite enough in the penalty area to make it count. Quite impressed with Poole though. Shame about the inconsistency from the whistle happy ref.

They do seem to raise their game at the sight of the Ricay shirt for some reason.

Some tricky games coming up over the Xmas and New year period but all very winnable.

It must be very disappointing to be a supporter at concord rangers, The club has such a bad reputation,

We out numbered there fans by 5 to 1 Personally it would not bother me if i never set foot on that cesspit ever again.

The chap that was making a great job of incinerating the burgers was telling me that a lot of C@nvey fans were at the game yesterday as their team were playing away so concord had even less supporters than i had first thought and to hear that James Colasanti was also at the game just summed up how loyal supporters of the c@nvey island are. I hope the rose tinted glass's are put to one side when he reports on the game.

We missed Craig Junior on the pitch yesterday and as mentioned the officials just added to the carnage. T'was a shame that the game was marred by the conduct of their bench and then their chairman.

Still roll on the 27th

As has been said we were once again sucked into a battle instead of playing football but a point from there is not too bad especially as we were playing without the assistance of the officiaals. The lino who incidentally had trouble seeing down the line as their manager was either in his way or on the pitch said he thought amikas was a penalty but didnt give it as their was a lot going on in the box. They also agreed that someone from Concord should have gone off in the Junior incident but they werent sure which one. I thought it should have been cowley but if it had I suppose the rest of his family present would have been ranting and raving for so long we would never have got home. We experienced on Saturday where their manager gets his manners from it would appear to be a family inheritance.

The positives were I thought a good performance from Greg making some good overlaps down the right, a good 90 mins from Jerome important as wild will miss the Hx game and I thought glen Poole showed some class although faded a bit in the second half.

A point and still top at christmas cant be bad, Lets hope for a bumper crowd next week and a good win over one of our most likely rivals for the title.

I agree with most of what has been written. We looked the only team likely to win it. Missed chances. Two blatant penalties missed by a woeful official. The new lad Poole looked good but faded a bit. We missed Craig Jnr and Swainey although Sobers did well. Agree that Oates was MOM and it was great to see him playing. Two points dropped at the end of the day. I thought it was a mistake bringing on Benson for H with the game there to be won.

BUT it's Christmas and we are top of the league. Who would have believed that would have been the case after the loss at Lewes?

Merry Christmas to you all.

As the Chairman of said club could you please explain how my conduct is being brought into this discussion ?

The only time i got involved was to ask your supporters to calm down when our managers were throwing there handbags !

All other comments are taken onboard and i wish you all a happy xmas and a successful new year !

If Concord put half as much effort into their 40 other games they might not be in a relegation scrap. They are what they are, a smaller more physical version of Haybridge.

On the plus side, Sobers had a good game considering it was his first game back. Poole looked good and added that bit of composure we've lacked in the middle for a while. Oates done well and Collis kept Stokes quiet. Just how the ref hasn't given a pen I don't know. Overall we were the better side and were generally in the ascendancy.

As for the incidents at HT, all I saw was Scopes wanting to punch the world and his wife and being physically restrained by at least three people from doing so.

A ten day break should now help us and with Sobers, Oates, Poole and hopefully Hawes and Berry back, it should stand us in good shape for the second half of the season.
