I thought the first yellow was harsh but the 10 should hav already been on a yellow! And the cowardly lunge on warri should have been a straight red anyway! So karma kicked in! How their 'special' fans could accuse warro of being sh1t after all those saves was hilarious only matched by the irony of their keeper flapping like a blind man at everything? Good to see mr crutches having a go at the ref at half time and them retardly telling the ref he was a Bedworth player was very amusing! Ps what the hell happened at the end?

And how the 'reporter' can say the second wasn't a foul when warro had a massive stud rip through his tights was quite amusing to me! Agree they destroyed us 1sthalf but we were the far better team 2nd half and no one other than Robbo the cocko can be blamed for them playing with ten! Do agree with their reporter about nbh, how we got the free kick when nbh dragged him down was beyond belief! 2nd goal def over line and was Nathan's IMHO

Not too sure on the use of the words 'tights'

well after watching that video, Worro saved the day, truely amazing, he is very good with one on ones and very good at making himself very big which ends up making the striker cautions and in 2 minds. Well played Slough, not the first time we've rode our luck and fingers crossed we carry on getting results at tough games. Bring on Beconsfield!

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, Sonner isn't anywhere near the goal line when the goal is awarded, NBH and Burnell are the 2 in the mix, Sonner's initial header is cleared off the line, then NBH goes in!

For me, the goal is Nathan's - I called it immediately. I thought the linesman flagged for the goal after that scramble. Sean Sonner's follow up header was cleared off the line - but he doesn't agree! In any case, the club reported Sonner as the goalscorer to the league, so that is what the report will say!

I think the result is an immense one for us in the context of the title race, even if we are only halfway through the season. It was never looking on the cards though, until the red card. I've not seen a Slough team completely dominated for quite some time - maybe when Arlesey came to Holloways Park and won 3-0 with ten men a season or two ago. No doubt it changed the game, though it did look deserved. Until it happened, I would say Bedworth are the best side we've played so far. It would have been very interesting to see if we'd seen the same response with eleven a side in the second half.

This puts us in a really strong position going into the second half of the season, and who'd have thought we'd be top at Christmas? Brilliant stuff!

Sounds like an eventful game today! It's going to be an interesting second half of the season, for the top 4 or 5 sides. We have Biggleswade on boxing day and Beaconsfield later on in Jan. Two crucial games for us. Agree with an earlier poster, Bedworth have been the best side we have played this season so far, think they were missing their captain and centre half Roper today. He's played 300 league games and is steady as a rock, no wonder their defence was a bit ropey.

Were Bedworth really that good? Yes we got totally outplayed in the first half and they should have been out of sight but I'd say we contributed as much to that with the way we played as they did. Once Steve Bateman initiated plan B at half-time :) and we got Sincs and Swift into the game we were the better side. I didn't think they were any better than St Newts or Biggleswade and definitely not as good as Northwood.

I agree with you Ian, we made them look like Spain In the 1st half, probably a half on a par with Hanworth Villa away! We gave their best player, the number 11, far too much space... When we go to Bedworth, I think we have to play 4-4-2, with Sweeney and Murphy cutting out the supply from their wide men!

First half was pretty terrible, our 3 centre backs could hardly run which let Bedworth in over and over again, many thanks due to Warro for the saves he made to keep us in it. Their number 10 would have got himself sent off at another point in the match the way he was going. We never looked in it, couldn't pass the ball around and rode our luck.

Second half was the complete opposite. We managed to hold the ball much better and spread it to the wingers (Swift in particular had a very good half and Sincs grew into it as well) and caused all the problems. The goals were lucky but they all count. Bedworth's collapse was pretty shocking (and quite similar to some poor second halves that we have had recently). MoM definately Warro, what a keeper!

Huge win, back on top for Christmas, looking forward to the big game on Boxing day! COYR!!

Agree with you, Matt, Bedworth are the best side I've seen so far. However, we were awful in the first half and seemed to have no answers or leadership,as to how to get out the mess we were in. We were very fortunate the Bedworth 10[Robbo] got send off, because while he deserved to go,had he stayed on, we would have been stuffed by half time.

For me the 3-5-2 system that we have been playing most of the season didn't work yesterday because they were very quick down the flanks and we had no full backs. Had Sweeney and Murphy been playing,Bedworth would have not have looked so threatening.

Since the winter pitches are kicking in,Slough are not functioning as well as at the start of the season[september and October],when the pitches were better. Chris Herron isn't a wing back and nor is Steve Sinclair, they are both wingers. Both are no good defensively as wing backs.Steve Perkins kept having to cover the left hand side in that first half, when he should have been playing a holding role in the middle thus enabling Paul Coyne and Adam Martin to get forward.

If we play the same system/team as the first half yesterday, against Beaconsfield we will face another tonking!

It appears obvious to me that the faster, younger teams we play against, usually get the upper hand,as we find it hard to raise our tempo and have too many older players who frankly struggle for pace.It was no co-incidence that when Mo Shariff came into the side the seasom before last,we began to play a lot faster and counter attacked better.I believe if we had 3 younger,fitter[21-23 age] players in our current team,we could do to Bedworth, what they did to us in that embarassing first half.

The problem is, we currently haven't them, so we must play to our strengths/weaknesses by doubling up down the flanks[right back/right winger and left back/left winger] then play to a system that suits the players we do have. I would consider playing 4-5-1 against Beaconsfield. Damage limitation foremost but pick the personal to take the game to Beaconsfield. Rather than invite pressure.

It is very unfortunate that our first team right back and left back are currently injured and suspended but we do have a squad that can provide cover for this.We need to start using it more effectively than we are.

Anyway,we grabbed the three points and for that I'm grateful. Well done Steve Bateman for bringing on Stuart Swift,as this change made the difference against the 10 men.

Come on Steve, shake up the pack for the next big game!

untill watching the highlights i didnt even consider for a second that the winning goal was anyone but NBH's but it does look like Sonner may well have been the one the goal was given for. whichever it was for i dont particularly care a goal was given and we go back top

also wanted to say how good the atmosphere was 2nd half. really noisy and all the Slough fans seemed well up for it knowing what a massive game it was for us

congrats on yesterday , our 10 being sent off turned the game in your favour . thought your lads behind the goal baited the ref a treat

hope we are both still in the mix when we meet near the end of the season

one of the funniest things yesterday was one of your lads undressing our number nine and you get the free kick

was the chap in the hi vis coat standing behind the goal one of your stewards ?????

Now the dust has settled from the weekend's first half onslaught and our subsequent comeback to win, albeit against 10 men.

I thought I'd offer all of us some words of comfort after reading the Aylesbury FC forum. Aylesbury lost 0-3 to Marlow on Saturday and appear to be in freefall and by the fans accounts, a shambles of a team.

Thankfully, our management team and squad are keeping us all on the edge of our seats[figuratively speaking] and are keeping our beloved team at the right end of the table and while I had a gripe on this thread about our lack of youth and exhuberance and our need for full backs on the right occasion,if things aren't going well with the 3-5-2 system. I would like to acknowledge that I'm sure all of us Slough fans are grateful that we're battling promotion rather than relegation!

To me,it's a question of perspectives. If you believe what's written in the local press that we have one of the bigger budgets in this league, then really we should be at the top end of the table but as we all know, things don't always work out that way.

There's no doubt that we don't lack from experience in our current squad but is this going to be enough to win this league,I can't say I'm convinced but whatever happens I'm trying to keep upbeat,as things aren't as gloomy as they could be !

So Mr Bateman,Mr Cummings and our squad - all I'm asking is try your best, nothing more, nothing less.

By all accounts Aylesbury are the opposite to us.

Miniscule budget and far too many young players. Whilst the Aylebury supporters recognise that they have some talented youngsters among them, they have no old heads to harness the exuberance of youth together.

3spirit, you don't have to ask, it's a given that the management and players will be giving nothing less than 100%.
