AFC Hornchurch v Aveley

Thought Hx played the better football and deserved the win.

Aveley put a big bloke on in the second half and went long ball but aside from a couple of penalty shouts didn't really bother Wooley too much despite having possesion.

Three points from a potential banana skin at home after a big cup game - I'll take that.

Squad might be stretched a bit more now.

Pleased with the result. Thought Aveley were a poor side but made it difficult for us at times although def pen for us

Got a bit worried towards the end, some refs would have been tempted to penalise us for Aveley's dives. Have to admire the way in which Aveley shared out their yellow cards, how many, without anybody getting a red.

Need to watch the Met Police, rank outsiders, but playing consistently.

Thought that we were by far the better side, but their goal seemed to take the wind out of our sails. If we play like that at home for the rest of the season we will do very well,we seemed to play with more confidence than of late at home.

We have just 2 home games in January, which is a month when the pitches are at their worst,by February the pitches should get better and less boggy

Ref didn't want to award penalties today our our one would have made it three nil and the game out of sight instead we were hanging on they got a goal back and possibly awarded two pens but sometimes u have to win ugly and a win at home at last heaven but first sixty minutes we were superb

Aveley were certain it was a pen, but we ended up fighting to hold on to the win when it should have been more comfortable. Before we may not have got going and struggled to win so we are doing well. Good cross by Tommy Black leading to the first all important goal.

Lets hope the weather doesn't take a turn for the worse over the coming week. I'm looking forward to the games coming up.
