DIVISION TWO

1-4 Hale Leys United v Bletchley Town

It would appear that a number of anoraks from another's Forum made a b line for this one yesterday:

Hale Leys United 1-4 Bletchley Town

Spartan South Midland League Division Two

Admission free. Programme £2. Tea 50p

A local choice, although once I arrived the locals appeared surprised that someone could travel 40 odd miles to see them. Along comes Yorkieexile, who travelled slightly further.

Fairford Leys is a council playing field, with four full size pitches, two junior pitches and four (not marked out mini pitches).

Apparently most local sides are giving it a wide berth, apparently because the council charge £75 a time to use Fairford Leys, but only £60 for other council pitches.

The difference is the shiny new dressing room block, although council pitch users in some parts of the country must be amazed that these were supplied with a man with a van, to take down the nets at the end of the game.

Hale Leys have pitch 2 reserved for them, but could move up to pitch 1 next season when drainage work has been completed. The pitch is roped and three sides, with the rope being tied to the fencing meaning no access behind the goal. They are also looking for facilities eslewhere in the town, as a multi pitch ground is not suitable for higher levels.

Fairford Leys is one of the suburbs of Aylesbury, a town rapdily growing in size as I could see from the housing being built as I approached. I thought Hale Leys would be another of these areas, but it is the name of a town centre shopping area.

A friendly welcome, and a fair match in which the visitors, Bletchley were comfortable 4-1 winners.

I checked with Bletchley over their location - not only is it the same as the old Milton Keynes City, but also they are renovating the ground, getting the stands repaired and have the floodlights working. The Hale Leys officials described the step up from the Aylesbury & District League as considerable, and talked about a steep learning curve. They are 11th in the 14th team division. It will be worth following what happens to them next.

DIVISION TWO

1-2 MK Wanderers v The 61FC (Luton)

A brief report on this one from another's Forum:

MK Wanderers 1-2 61 FC Luton

Sth Midlands Lge Div 2

Free, no progs, attendance 5

Reasonable game, but the usual SML swear & moan experience. The visitors spent a bit too much time arguing with each other in the 1st half and at one point their keeper had to be physically restrained from having a go at one of his own players.

Ground is very basic, being part of a complex & with just one side roped-off. There's a central pavilion, with snack bar selling hot food & drinks and an overhang that is just about close enough to the pitch to be usable. Another game was taking place on the other side of the complex.

7-1 AFC Dunstable v Hanwell Town

A report from the rout yesterday. Imagine how Dunstable Town will feel if AFC Dunstable do win the Premier Division, I assume AFC Dunstable's long term future is secure groundsharing at Creasey Park:

Rhodes - Yes the groundsharing is very secure. Actually Creasey Park is now owned by the local authority and both clubs have a lease agreement with them, so are equal partners.

OD’s – How do Dunstable Town feel about you being equal partners at Creasey Park, I only ask as there seems to be some bad feeling between the two Club’s going by previous posts

When I was at the Dunstable Derby, Club Officials from both sides couldn't speak more highly of each other.

I hope the REAL team in Dunstable thrash the cocky upstarts. My prediction is The Real DTFC 4-The Horrble Upstarts 2. AFC will never replace The Blues. How's your charter to the FA going? Fancy charging kids 100 odd quid a season to play for you with the promise of a new kit that never materialises? And making kids pay for floodlit training sessions that are never floodlit. You must be so proud. W*****s.

Er, you appear to have forgotten about the above post by Gman2!

As said before, officials from both clubs get on very well, even to the case that our 2 games this season, the gate receipts are being shared 50/50.

The only problem we have, is with some strange inbreds who follow them, who don't know the full story about the new complex and how it came about.

I have not forgotten Gman2's quote.

I'm going by what I saw at the recent AFC Dunstable vs Dunstable Town fixture.

There will always be rivalry among supporters in any local derby but having witnessed the excellent facilities and first class organisation by both Clubs, Dunstable have a ground and 2 Clubs that they can be proud of.

One poster speaks out at the merger so Rhodes once again assumes that all fans feel this way, hence he is dragging it up again to cause trouble.

Just give it a rest Rhodes your opinions (opps assumptions) are not worth the keyboard you have typed them on

WB..tis the season of goodwill & glad tidings to all men don't you know...trouble is I have not worked out yet whether Rhodes qualifys in respect to the "all men" part! I have taken note though that since using the forum I have yet to see an entry from Rhodes which conveys a positive message, so cumin Rhodes take that as a challenge and try saying something nice about one or more of your fellow bloggers..maybe just a little merry xmas to start with? Merry Crimbo by the way WB
