ETFC V EFC

4-0 and should have been more! Wayne Grant hit the bar and their keeper had to make some great saves. Thought Rids had a great game. Billy Cove is a good signing - a target man who can hold the ball up. Chopper made a superb double save towards the end.

Here come the excuses - "it was our youth team"...etc

We can only beat what they put out against us, and just think of the number of players we've got injured or suspended! At the end of the day Enfield Town comprehensively beat Enfield in front of over 500 fans in the Borough of Enfield.

Not bad for a railway station. 4 - 0. (I think we might have just got into second gear)!

Terry Back might have done well if he had any of our players.

The EFC 2, 10, 11 were first team players (so I'm informed).

Good to see Andy Carr get a run out albeit a short one. See we can play youths too!

EFC were really boys sent to do a mans job and it showed.

Town were showboating at the end - loved the scissor kick from Wayne Grant.

Full marks to the EFC youngsters in the first half they ran their legs off!

Good to see EFC's 37 fans all there. The official gate was 562 - I thought there were more than that there! Fans seem to come from everywhere tonight.

I know this wasn't important to the players so much as us the fans. So a big thnakyou to all the players. Bragging right are ours and the record books will show it!

Is this the last time EFC will play a competitive game in the Borough? Must be a risk! If you missed it you may have missed a bit of history as the Borough of Enfield torch was passed on from the old club to the new.

The King is dead Long live the new King!

The two from Manchester have just got home (1:30am!!!) and are smiling rather smugly. I suspect a fair proportion of the other 560 will be developing hangovers at this very moment! The M25/M1/M6 have never been shorter! Yee ha!

Sad to see EFC, a team which of which I was once so rightly proud, fielding such an "experimental" side for a match which the diehard fans had a right to deserve better. To their credit, the youngsters did well in the first half but the experience shone through after the break. Historically, I think that this meeting will go down as a signpost to the evolving fortunes of the two teams. Anyhow, best wishes to EFC for the future.

Focussing on the Town, after a frustrating first half where endeavour was not matched by accuracy, the second half display showed a really exciting blend of gutsy and skillful performances. It was great to watch. A solid and systematic dismantling of weak opposition. It was good to see new blood doing so well alongside the tried and trusted players. Very impressive. Well done to the WHOLE team and to JC & his crew, too. The future looks really bright.

Big thanks to all those who worked so hard tonight (and who probably do so at each and every game).

And of course, well done to those with the vision who've allowed (made!) this to happen (and who lead by example - not many places where the directors would help out clearing away the litter <img src="/images/graemlins/icon14.gif" alt="" /> )

Incidentally the "stadium" looks fab. Superb job done there! I guess that after some decent rain in the next few months the pitch will perk up, too.

Good to see the gang again and also meet a few new people. See you all soon, hopefully.

Off to beddie-byes now... but that smug smile will still be there in the morning!

Onwards and upwards - Come on you Town!

What a great game. It was Mrs Happy's first time watching the Town and she really enjoyed it. Thanks to the lads behind the goal for putting an extra big smile on our faces.

first half was fairly even and EFC worked hard. Their small black striker (don't know his name) was very quick and could have scorted once or twice in the first half but for some very poor ball control. Second half was great. Lee Smith is one strong player and whenever he gets the ball you think something special is going to happen but, as ever, Dave Allen was first class. Not too sure why the EFC player was sent off and after that it was nearly all Town. Good to see the EFC fans in good spirits and have a good old sing song. Shame we didn't all join in with "we hate Barnet". Never mind.

It's just a shame that those few who are left have been continuoulsy let down by Lazarou. I iunderstand he's missed an FA deadline so has been banned from writing any cheques. Is it the final death knell for a once grand old club. Probably not, that little weasel wil get out of it somehow.

They had three first team players out, some reserves and a few youth players. We had six first team regulars out as well.

If we had won only 1 or 2 nil then the only victory would have been a moral victory. However, 4-0 against a team one league higher is a pretty good result, regardless of who was playing.
