Multi Ball.

Clubs received the following from the league last week.

"The question arose in a recent match as to whether or not the “multi-ball” system, whereby ball boys quickly get a replacement ball into play, can be used in Combined Counties League matches.

Although the multi-ball” system is prohibited in FA competition matches, there is no equivalent rule as far as league matches are concerned, so this system can be used in CCL matches. The only proviso is that all the balls likely to be used in the match must be presented to the referee beforehand."

Just been on the Guernsey Forum, and there was a mention that at the League Meeting to be held on 5th December, this matter was to be discussed, does anyone know the outcome?

I don't see why the league wouldn't allow multi ball. It makes the game flow better and the ball is in play longer. So its better from a spectators point of view.

We always use multi ball at home and the system works well.

I've seen lots of away games when only a few balls have been in use and half of the match the ball is out of play. This is very boring to watch and a great time wasting technique.

It has always been my understanding that Multi ball is accepted by the Ryman and CCL as they have no rules to the contrary, but these match (multi) balls should be checked by the referee prior to the game, but they are usually not except for the 3 they are given to commence the game.

Now what would we be like without Smudgeyboy....oops sorry I mean Multi Ball.

Coincidently, If not, places such as The Spectrum and The Arena, the game will last for 3 hours .....lol !!!

If you took the time to read the thread on the Guernsey Forum, you would see why they use it.Someone stated that because Guernsey are much fitter than all C.C.L.Sides they have seen, the more the balls are in play the better for them.Have we had any Officials who have officiated in Guernsey to assure us that all balls used have been checked pre match, and taken onto the playing surface by them.

and what about when Guernsey are 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go, do all the multi-balls disappear?

They're not South Kilburn FC!!

I know that when I spoke to the Feltham lads, they said this is what killed them at times. Not being able to clear their lines and look for that breather because the balls came flying back in through the ball system

No they don't disappear we play fair.

Also we are never 1-0 up with 10 mins to go its normally at least 4-0 ;)

As long as its the same for both sides then I don't see a problem. It's more positive than the time wasting tactics seen at most games, surely?

As for whether the referee checks all the balls, that's up to the referee to ensure all the rules/laws are adhered to.
