Not CCL but if you would like to watch some local football and tough enough to brave the elements tonight please come down to Alwyns Lane, Chertsey to watch:

Chertsey v Barton Rovers 7.45pm ko

 

Lots of games may be off tonight but this one is definitely on (at present)

Cheers JJ, you have made my mind up, so will see how you fair altho' JJ the strong wind will spoil the game, so suggest you keep the ball on the floor !

 

No doubt you will advise all if postponed, but can't see it as wind and sun will dry out the pitch.............you right tho' its gonna be bloody freezing ...lol !!!

only 2 including me from the starting usual 11 stayed. The rest of the team has been made up of reserves from the capital league side, plus 4 or 5 signings from Woking academy and CCL players.

 

Unfortunately the budget is very low for that level so difficult to get top players in from step 4. We are still work in progress and I know they can perform because they gave 2nd place Bedworth a tough match saturday and came away with a credible draw! Just shocking defending last night and we got punished. They got the hairdryer treatment in the dressing room after and we will be working hard on the training pitch before the New Year to put things right!!

JJ where do you train as a matter of interest,,,on the pitch ?

 

JJ the higher the level these mistakes will be punished, whereas at times in the CCL Prem and more so in Div. 1 defences can get away with it.

 

Lets be honest JJ, reading the match report against Bedworth, Chertsey should have been down and out in the first 20-25 mins but you survived that drew in confidence and getting a 1-1 draw is commendable.

 

Its going to be a tough journey for you and your players up until the end of the season, but you must remain positive and show that to your players who are very young and can quickly get demoralised should they keep getting beat.

 

Being a level above CCL Prem you should be able to attract good CCL players but with your bugget its difficult to analyise. You could dangle the carrot that they will be playing at step 4 level BUT will they be good enough ?.... Sometimes its a suck & see situation with new players, as it is with you also being new to level 4.

 

Hopefully, you/Chertsey being in a relative good position in the league will steer you clear of relegation, but consecutive defeats will change that so be careful. I'm sure your brief is to stay in the Southern League or sometimes it's good to be relegated, and start again with your own team and budget, cos the small budget I can imagine you have, will unfortunately result in more defeats than wins, so this will be a constant struggle which will see some players leave cos they are getting beat week in and week out........

 

Unfortunately, the above is a matter of fact certainly at out level and alsothe higher regions of the pyramid...money talks !
