Rio Ferdinand

They've threatened to pull all United's players out of the Turkey match.

Doesn't add up to me. So Ferdinand 'forgot'? Okay, fair enough, but Man Utd officials know before the game who is to be tested, and even if it had slipped Rio's mind, surely they should've called him up on his mobile and hauled him in later that evening for his test.

He was injured for the Champ Lge game mid-week, and my hunch is that the club doc gave him a 'little something' to keep him going for the [****!!****] game.

Two years suspension he's looking at. That ain't a great return for £29m! No wonder United are spitting chips!!

It's black and white. The FA law states that if you fail to or refuse to give a test when asked, you are guilty of an offence. He failed to when asked and is therefore guilty. His excuse that he was moving house and had a lot on his plate just makes him look even more stupid. He isn't paid £50k a week for nothing. It comes with certain responsibilites and doing a drugs test when asked is one of them.

I'm not defending Ferdinand.

I watched the BBC news at 10 last night and heard the story. First thought "What a pr@t, but then he is a footballer". Second thought "Well O.K. Whatever the punishment to be delivered, why not roll up his sleeve at the next available moment and say 'Here I am. Do me now'?"

I caught the last few minutes of Newsnight and Paxo said that Ferdinand had done a test 36 hours after the 'forgotten' appointment and was negative. 2 weeks ago!

That might be a more interesting comment on the BBC news than on the superstar himself.

36 hours does allow some social drugs to be flushed through

Those drugs are on the banned list

This man-child earns? 100k a week and is smothered in advisors, agents and legal assistance.

So what do we get,a thick bling bling I want I want and I do not accept responsibility for my actions dummy

Since being the 30m top paid top rated defender in the league transfer into united it is obvious that season on season improvement is the furthest thing from his mind

The modern player at premier level owes more to the game than any other footballers in history, ban the idiot big time
