Warren McBean signs for gate

Wellsie

think the guy needs to be given a chance he's played less then 90min of football...new team, new team mates etc etc etc!!!!!

Sorry Jab the guy was on his debut and surely trying to impress his new club/fans and bosses alike, but the only thing he impressed on me was how much he "didnt" want to be there - dont think he will feature too many times if he displays like that again.

respect what you say danny but to be fair the whole team turned up on a 'off day,' think most would say that on here so trying to impress in a well below par team it makes it even harder to put in a good shift and impress. All I would say give the guy a few games to get used to playing in a new team and if I'm still wrong you can shove this post up my 'Southwood' so to speak

CK is well aware of what kind of player he's signed. 50 goals in 100 games for Bromley tells you he's a good player but he's never been a 'we'll fight them on the beaches' type. So in games he'll either be completely anonymous, like on Saturday, or he'll pop them in for fun.

Can we afford a player like that, simple answer is no. Wages are paid to a player regardless of whether he plays or not if he is on a contract then he is "earning" money which we all know is hard to come by and for CK to think "important game today - I wonder if Warren will PLAY today"............... answers on a postcard to the people that pay the wages if we dont "turn up".

The thing is, the number of strikers capable of scoring 25 a season is small and everybody wants one. And we are not the first port of call for super-duper centre forwards. Beggars can't be choosers. CK has taken a bit of a punt here but I can understand why. Though I've never met him, McBean strikes me as the kind of player who needs to be told how good he is all the time, so criticism will probably be counterproductive.

I dont think Im wording this right because somehow we are defending a player that does'nt play, a player that showed no, nothing zilch intention to show this fantastic side of football he can produce. Am I missing something here because if I were paying wages to a guy for doing nothing but turning up for work, apart from shoving a rocket where the sun dont shine he'd be shown the door or is it too much to expect a (supposed) footballer to play FOOTBALL........

i have not seen Mr McBean play-so i can't easily provide a comparison, but about 7 seasons ago-did not Mr Kinnnear sign another very languid/laid back type of player who drove us nuts most of the time-but equally became a minor 'legend' (used loosely).

Is there a comparison with a certain Rocky Baptiste in his conference heyday ?

the bottom line is HOW you judge a player, playing less then 90min of football when most of the team had a mare of a game on Saturday. If anyone can do that they should take up scouting for the top teams they would make clubs millions in the prem and save them the same in over paid wages and fees.

Give him a chance for goodness sake. Am I in a minority of one when I saw flashes of intelligent play on saturday particularily switching play from on wing to the other.

Merry christmas

You're not in the minority of one Dave as you will read elsewhere I too mentioned he showed a glimpse of what he can do...if he set's his mind to it.

One instance in particular on Saturday he did momentarily impress me.Sadly that was probably the only time he did show something.

Others & I have mentioned his body language & yes it was such that it was easily noticable that he wasn't up for it on the day. I dunno, maybe thats how he normally struts around when playing his normal game.

Having said all that there must be something in him having seen his past record & yes I for one will give him another chance to impress me but he has to step up & I'm sure he will.

What has been mentioned is his below performance level on the day & I see absolutely nothing wrong with airing our views for that game. He shouldn't sulk because of negative comments. Besides he's been around long enough & is & should be wise enough & big enough to take it on the chin.. I'm sure he will & knuckle down next time & want us to see him in his true form.

All of us I would think like wish him well in his next game for us,should he stick around to prove us sceptics wrong.

He wasn't the only one to be off the mark on Saturday, that has to be mentioned. He wasn't on his own & he alone wasn't resposible for the defeat. Overland has to take some blame as he needs to improve his kicking, the enforced changes didnt help either & the others were not on song either,so a few reasons for the defeat. Warren was however the "new" man & all eyes were on him & the other new face, who might I add came on,didn't excell but did enough to prevent any negative comments about his debut

It's up to Warren.! If he wants praise he'll most certainly get it but its up to him. A Better attitude ,more involvement & effort, & he'll certainly get my praise regardless of the scoreline.

He was indeed Wellsie & yes he turned out good. A real battler that was admired by all in the end.

He worked his socks off to get that praise & was always committed, & rightly so has become a legend because of that effort & commitment.

Not by some he isn't Tony!

By some I presume you mean me - I dont regularly slate players but I really think saying "he had a bad day at the office" doesnt cut it anymore. Im hoping he proves me wrong and turns out to be the player you all seem to think he is........ for now Im not convinced and entitled to my opinion.
