Applications for promotion

Keep up Smudge - Daniel kindly answered that question a month or 2 back :)

Green Fingers, Eversley are certainly leaving it late to meet the ground grading deadline. As well as floodlights there are a number of other improvements required before being considered for promotion, would be a massive shame if they were to finish 2nd or 3rd and not be able to go up - great set-up, fantastic pitch, good management, some very good players and seem to be a well run club by a few youthful lads. Unfortunately though there is a lot of work needed in a very short space of time....echoes of Knaphill 2/3 seasons ago.....and look whats happened to them since then!! Perhaps Mr Savage is just destined to stay in Div 1??

Hi,

We are currently going through the planning application process for the floodlights. It is hoped that all will be completed in the next few weeks. As part of the installation of the lights, we will also put down hard standing on the remaining three sides. It was decided that it makes sense to do this while the equipment for the light installation is on site.

We obtained planning permission for an additional 50 seat stand and 100 standing under cover last year. Pay box is on site and ready to be built.

Other than the above, I don't think there is anything else required to meet the ground grading?

The funding is pretty much all in place, with our annual firework display last Saturday helping to raise an additional 6k towards the project.

Meeting the deadlines will be very tight, however the project timeline is set to meet them with some contingency included.

The note above regarding the possibility of less than three promotion places is quite concerning. However the way around this is to finish in the top 2!

Please let me know if you require any further information.

PS Chubby - I haven't been called youthful in a very long time :D

Although the issue of an "enclosed ground" is one I hadn't previously considered as being restrictive but................

Bomaya, Krooner - the grading is all sorted now, we have been awarded Grade E and we have had ongoing work this year as we work towards a Grade D.

The turnstiles were finished but Guildford Borough Council sent Health & Safety in who told us the roofs needed to be a big higher. The works you may see at the moment are a result of that, but rest assured that both turnstiles will be back in full operation soon. The FA have confirmed that the ground is suitable for promotion so there are no worries on that front this season!

Good...and I mean that. I don't like the ground but it still shouldn't block you from promotion if you are the best team again.

I absolutely agree with this and am genuinely pleased that this has been confirmed by the FA. This is going to be one hell of a second half of a season. Whoever gets promoted to Step 4 will have deserved it on merit.

So CC what makes you say that ?

We played them in the southern youth league (U18) last night (lost 2-5).

Technically, they are 4 promotions away from CCL1 at present.

That could easily reduce to 3 (and possibly 2) at the end of this season.

The one in the pic on the Website, where do they play Chris? Kerria Knights are not that strong either.

Their U18's play at Wibbandune.

Their Saturday team play at the back on the common extensions at present!

They have a plan for their own ground sooner rather than later I am informed!

Am i right in thinking Cranleigh and Old Farnborough are the only sides outside step 6 with lights in our domain

Any other clubs out there with plans for new facillities for promotion?

If you include groundshares you've got Epsom Athletic at CHU and Tooting Bec at RPV.

Abbey Rangers' website says they're looking to install a 3G pitch with floodlights.

And then there's the possibility of someone moving into Croydon Athletic's ground should they disappear and not reform. A team on the rise in that area like Real Holmesdale could be a candidate.

As far as I'm aware Real Holmesdale haven't 'a pot to p*** in' however the aformentioned Tooting Bec (who don't share at RPV, RPV have a reserves now) I believe aren't short of a bob or two and then of course, and my favourites, would be Crescent Rovers returning to their former ground
