I'm not panicking or worried, people behind GFC are very competent people. The football secretary is former county secretary, island footballer and top referee, so I'm sure he knows the rules.

Cannot see a problem with Guernsey going up to C.C.L. Premier, does strict ground grading rules apply at this stage.A few Clubs in the Premier do not have Turnstiles in place,or are fully enclosed.I am sure that Guernsey F.C.are aware of what is needed, being the well run Club they are. They may encounter problems when promoted from C.C.L. Premier though, next year!!!!!!!!

It's dangerous to ignore them, as Frimley Green, Feltham & Horley found out to their cost at the end of Season 2005 / 06. All 3 were relegated when not in relegation positions (Horley were 5th that season) due to failing ground grading criteria at a time when the FA were restructuring. Frimley & Feltham have yet to recover from that blow

Westfield also relegated that season despite finishing 11th

Well lets hope so HKP 'cos Guernsey don't want egg on their faces should they be Champions and not get promoted 'cos of ground grading.... VP you say don't panic but March 31st is just over 3 months away and those months will go quickly when you consider what has to be done at Footes Lane.

Guernsey wasn't build in a day !

They've got until March 31st 2013 to get a grade F. Plenty of time. They only need a G by March 31st this season. I've not seen the ground myself apart from in pictures but it must be enclosed or can you really just walk off the street across the track and onto the pitch?

So the answer VP is yes! However the FA control grading rather than the leagues. I imagine in some ways it would be beneficial to the CCL to keep them in CCL1 for one extra season but I expect the FA would be happy to have them higher sooner rather than later. ;)

So Bommie are you saying that the FA/CCL should make dispensation for Guernsey irresopective if their ground grading is not upto the level required ?

And the difference between grade E (suitable for promotion to step 4) and grade D (needed within a year to stay at step 4) -

hardly anything. The capacity goes up to 1300, the covered accomodation goes up to 300 (seats stay at 150) and the director's seats must be in a 'prime position in the main stand'. Everything else is the same. Why the FA still bother with grade E I don't know. Grade D has been watered down a bit in recent years and now makes E redundant and a waste of time in my view. Clubs can only have an E for a few months before they have to get a D unless they come straight back down again. Might as well get rid of it.

There are quite a few 'may haves' that turn in to 'must haves' as well though.

Mind you, the FA tend to ignore the actual content of the grading documents and just go with whatever the inspectors feel like on the day. So really it's a pointless exercise unless you have a good relationship with the inspectors.

Sweeney, serious question, is the turnstile issue completed sorted now?

The FA only do grading down to step 4 plus teams who apply for promotion from step 5. They'll shortly be inspecting every other step 5 club but step 6 grading is done by the individual leagues. There's nothing to stop a step 6 side getting an official FA grading if they want one though.

If the FA physically did the grading at step 6 the Hellenic League would be decimated and some other leagues would lose a few teams as well.

I hate to say it but the turnstile still doesnt look finished to me at the Spectrum but hopefully I will be corrected.

Bomaya, Krooner - the grading is all sorted now, we have been awarded Grade E and we have had ongoing work this year as we work towards a Grade D.

The turnstiles were finished but Guildford Borough Council sent Health & Safety in who told us the roofs needed to be a big higher. The works you may see at the moment are a result of that, but rest assured that both turnstiles will be back in full operation soon. The FA have confirmed that the ground is suitable for promotion so there are no worries on that front this season!

Good...and I mean that. I don't like the ground but it still shouldn't block you from promotion if you are the best team again.
