application

Ref- tesco bazza's post.

Surely though if they allow this then what is stop say tescos, asda, sainsburys or any superstore the list goes on , to then apply to the council to also lease a small piece of the park so they can then put a store on the park? They have to be careful because they are setting a president here, this could also apply to any park in Thanet! Obviously MFC are going to gain out of this, how? Would you all still be for it if they decided to build it the other end of the park ?

Setting a precident? It happens all the time & has happened for many-a-year.The same as it has always been with open spaces i.e fields. The council just refuse any further application for further development on that particular site. Simple as that!

The one exception would be Westwood coss. This council will allow anyone & anything on that land & will continue to do so. There's no stopping them & certainly no dilly-dallying where Westwood cross is concerned.

Setting the length of leases aside for a moment, the ONLY additional parkland sought for the parkland is the full size 3G football pitch - despite the misinformation that has been circulated - and a small extension to what is already used for car parking for the 5-a-Side centre.

It is of course nonesense to say that a precedent is being set, given the existing land useage under existing leases by the club and the built in community use of the facilities planned on the additional parkland sought.

All the detals of the land / lease situation are available for anyone who wants to take the trouble to explore the plans properly; both on the MFC website and on the TDC website - where they clearly explained the lease application situation within the consultation process.
