Why didnt i try and get todays game put off with the league? i understand badshot had their game cancelled due to the flu bug last night, i lost seven players between 8am this morning and 11.30 am went to hanworth with twelve players, (three youth team) got better keeper pulled up during warm up, groin, couldnt kick a ball, captain goes off in first half with head wound, since had it stiched up, what a day at the office.

i have been naive in the extreme, and had our backsides well and truly slapped. park that one i think!! onward and upward as they say.

Had long chat with DFC Hon Sec last night, and we both agree it's probably a good reality check.

Even Man U & Chelski have a mare from time to time !

To be honest, I would have been more than happy to have got one point yesterday !

As far as Buckers comment re the Badshot cancellation - We may hear more on that score.

Onwards and upwards.

Bucks we live and learn sometimes being honest doesn't pay ! You have a point here perhaps you should have cancelled the game giving the same excuse/reason as Badshot Lea who would know otherwise. This is where reserve team football comes in, but I do know the expense this brings as well, so can see both sides of the fence.

If Badshot Lea can field 8 players the rules state the game should proceed (am I correct GF/VP ?). But as we know the game was cancelled, now where do we stand on this 'cos if Badshot Lea get away with not losing points, this will leave the barn wide open for other teams claiming the same should they be struggling to get a team out or cannot get their best team out ! Think the CCL Committee need to look at this very carefully otherwise this subject will open to misuse and abuse.

Remember Croydon last season when they cancelled the game !

could not have put it better myself, and it was with tongue firmly in cheek me suggesting i should have cheated the facts, in absolute honesty the thought never entered my head, your correct this needs addressing with some very serious thought by the powers that be, and to be honest, i dont envy them, on the one hand you must be seen to be sympathetic, on the other you are accusing them of untoward behavior.

jr a good reality check !! same old dorking me pulling one way and the club pulling the other, almost sounds like your all pleased with the outcome at hanworth. what a effing stupid thing to quote on a public forum, think about that statement.what does it say?? a wake up call, what we over achieving? are we getting big headed? im gutted for the eleven players that turned out, one of whom could barely walk, four of whom had temperature over a hundred, i only hope they dont pick up on the official club statement regarding saturday.... a good wake up call.

The standard FA rules leave it to the League to determine how many constitute "minimum" - the CCL just state that you'll be fined for every player less than 11. They do cover postponements caused by epidemics and I would suspect there may be several doctors certificates being sought to support the BL case.

8.9 Each Club shall be prepared to kick-off at the scheduled time unless a satisfactory explanation is offered. Any Club commencing a Competition Match with less than 11 players they be subject to a fine in accordance with the Fines Tariff. Each team participating in a match shall represent the full available strength of each competing Club.

8.10 When a Club obtains the consent of the Board to postpone a fixture because of an epidemic, affecting the availability of their players, that Club shall be liable to pay any direct expenses incurred, if any, to the opposing Club. The amount of claim will be at the discretion of the Board. Requests for the postponement of a match for any reason will not be considered more than forty-eight hours before the scheduled time of kick-off. Medical certificates for those players affected, signed by the players’ own doctor, must be forwarded to the Competition Secretary within fourteen days of the postponement, along with a full list of contract and non-contract players currently registered by the Club at the date of the match which was postponed, giving full reasons against each name for the player’s unavailability.

Buckers I don't know u personally but I think you will be able to sleep at night. You put out a side and did not make up any real excuses apart from the fact that the side was not good enough. To be honest it may have been the same if you had put out a full strength side as Villa are a quality outfit. One thing is u have got another game out of the way and come the rain and snow etc etc it may have been a schrewd move.

Good luck for the season u have done a sterling job and I think that you will take the club forward. I hope you finish at least where you are in the table and if anyone asks about your integrity you can tell them that it is intact.

I did think Bucks that JR's quote was a bit off, you and hurds have been doing a great job so far this season. Forget yesterday, them days happen once in a blue moon, dust yourself off and move on to getting 3 points next week. Chin up mate

Please allow me to clarify my original post.

I was in NO way criticising Bucks for what happened.

To be totally honest, NO-ONE informed me of the exact circumstances unti after I had posted as above.

May-be the words 'Reality-Check' were a bit harsh, and if I have offended anyone, I humbly apologise.

With regard to the possibility of Bucks attempting to get the game off, I admire him 100 per cent for going ahead. As far as Badshott Lea are concerned, I'll come out and say exactly what I actually think, and this is NOT an official statement on behalf of DFC.

It's nothing short of 'Cheating', and hoping to get away with it, and should be punished accordingly. I feel sure that the CCL League will be looking at this incident closely.

Watch this space ???

Bit harsh that BJR to accuse another Club of cheating without knowing any of the facts. Can't see any advantage being gained by calling it off it it could have been played - neither side will win the League with or without the 3 points from this match. I'm sure the League will take the correct action once they have established all the facts

Buckers , a little over reaction to a forum post, but thats football and the passion. I didnt read anything bad into it.

If you read it as the reality is we were always going to struggle to get anything away at Hanworth who are flying its not such a bad statement.

However I think the post and your reaction does show some of the perceived attitudes/problems at the club.

Dorking should be beating the likes of Hanworth Villa when you look at the history, the potential.

I dont think we should accept it and move on without trying to learn from it.

Do we see how we can get a reserve side up?

Do we look at South Park, Hanworth Villa and wonder why they have caught and perhaps passed Dorking FC?

Do we bury some egos and past differences and cooperate with other local clubs?

I am happy/delighted with progress this season, finally seeing some youth come through and Im also happy to finish mid table/top half this season but that cant be the aim long term or even next year.

Done let one bad result get you down.

I hope the league does look at it and take the right action.

We had a game away to Chessington a couple of months ago and we had 8 1st team players missing due to illness and other commitments, it never entered our minds to get it called off we went to the game with 5 reserve players and a couple of youth teamers giving us only 1 sub, and fair play to Chessington they won.

How does it make any difference if its 2 teams that can win the league or 2 min table teams,it doesnt.
