Must say was most dissapointed with my visit to Bullericay yesterday. It did start off well though as hand a nice pint of draught Cider bought for me but, from there it went downhill.

I went to the food hut (you know I like my food) and ordered a steak sandwich from the menu which was displayed. However, I was told there was no steak sandwiches on sale so thought I would have a cheeseburger but, there was no cheese so settled for a hot dog (not the real one that was roaming in the cooking area) and chips. All I can say was that it filled by now an empty space in my stomach (that is the only polite thing I can say about it).

Well on to the match. Luckily I decided to stand behind the goal so did not hear the rantings of CE (not you Neil) for the first half BUT had to endure the rantings from #5 (there captain) who complained about everything. They then scored a goal (which #4 took well)after 2 defensive lapses but, the bullying of the ref continued and to Cyrtis (that is how they spelt his name) credit after he got booked for a foul that was never a foul managed to cap his anger so he received no more cautions. The half continued and both sides cancelled each other out.

Now on to the 2nd half well unfortunatley the home bench was closer to us and all we could hear was CE (no not you again Neil) ranting at every decision made agains a Bullericay player (I must admit i got quite horse having to yell at him to sit down and shut up). Well anyway we really pressed Bullericay and in the 79th Avo hit the ball ever so sweetley (I have that free drink on Saturday for saying that Avo) into the Bullericay net. Infact Dale (I've played 764 games) Brightly was so annoyed that he nearlly burst the net with the force he kicked the ball afterwards. The choir went mental and we hoped that maybe KA or Bradders could get the winner.

Finally I came away reasonably happy with the point (wanted 3 though) but, unfortunatley Bullericay does not seem like the club it was a few years ago. Shame really as I've enjoyed all my visits there in the past.

:coolsmoke:

PS I hope Chris Wild won his bet for the ponytail.

Fully deserved the point and, on the whole, probably the right result. But we put them under serious pressure in the second half, without creating a great deal, and, based on the second half alone, we maybe deserved to nick it.

Always interesting to hear the views of the opposition and, on leaving the ground, heard several Billericay fans stating "Well, we were lucky to get a point there". Probably tells you all you need to know.

They were a very average team, but then this is a very average league. It's easy to see why they're unbeaten at home: all the players and management alike get on the referee's back from the first whistle and, unfortunately, due to the standards of officials at this level, they are far too easily influenced. And the time-wasting antics were appalling, as early as about 25 minutes into the game.

Given all that, it was a cracking point, and good to see a good travelling support. I do enjoy trips to Billericay, at least it's a fairly decent ground. But it was the most subdued home support I've known for a number of years; odd, seeing as they're riding high.

All in all, more than happy with the point. Tough game on Tuesday, would settle for a point now

I did find the time-wasting, especially at throw-ins, really weird. One-up at home to a mid-table team?

What I found even stranger was Margate's time wasting from throwins when they were 1-0 down. Happy with just being a goal down it would seem.

What i did notice about saturdays game a quite a few other games was our lads don't scream and shout like they have been run over by Mick Nixon on the lawn mower.

Other teams do it all the time and more often than not they get a reaction from the ref (if he's gullible enough which they normally are at this level) In saying that it must add to our "Fair Play" "Respect" campaign eh.

Not sure if drawing away from home with an average team makes us a 'distinctly below average team' - I'd say it probably also makes us an average team, if anything - but then I always have had trouble understanding the Essex way of thinking

You're not the brightest you Kent coastal types are you ? If we are average and we top the league 18 points ahead of you and having scored 16 goals more than you that would make you distinctly below average.
