I don't think it's about the best partnership in the league not being good enough.

 

If we want to win the league we will need all the strength in depth that we can get to cope with the injuries and suspensions that we will pick up.

 

If by signing a player gives us more extra competition and strength in depth it can only be for the better.

I agree Nathan, none of us are questioning anyone we already have, they are knocking their pot out but if the press speculate on a new player/striker of course we're going to start getting excited by it, if the players adds quality to what we already have then bring it on!

 

Take tomorrow for example, if Sonner or Abbey get injured during the game (god forbid!) or we need a goal late on, we have no out and out striker on the bench!

 

So message to Burnell, Sonner and Abbey, we are no speculating on a replacement for you, we're speculating on a player to supplement you, I personally wouldn't swap any 1 of you 3 anyone else at this level! Keep banging the goals in boys!

You're right, Reading Rebel.

 

Danny Burnell should realise that it is a squad game and no one should be aloof and undroppable. All Steve Bateman's doing is replacing Charlie Mpi with another striker [if that is what he is doing?!].

 

I think Danny Burnell is just one of those characters who's happy moaning about something, as he often does in matches.

He is undoubtedly an excellent striker/goal poacher at Slough's current level and can easily play in the Southern Premier division but that doesn't mean he is always the best option up front for every game.

Regardless of what Danny Burnell thinks,Steve Bateman calls the shots and I think Steve's 100% right in looking for a 4th striker to enhance Slough's chances of winning the title.

Talking of 'Twitter',is Danny Murphy going to be out injured for awhile, as Tuesday he alluded to that fact on his Twitter page.

I hope I've got the wrong end of the stick, as he would be a huge loss for the up and coming top of the table clashes.

Does anyone on the forum know about this?

think Murphy is struggling with an ankle problem. if he is out for the rest of the calender year that isnt long but definitely a blow. Sweeney is another we need fit again though we are not missing him maybe as much as we would have last season

I think Burnell was referring to the speculation about Chennels but if the quote attributed to Steve Bateman is correct (When a player of his calibre becomes available you have to be interested) I tend to agree. It's not really something to get upset about.

Agree, if your the top goal scorer, playing well and still scoring, then you are virtually guaranteed a place in the starting line up.

Hmmm, we're only discussing things on a discussion forum after all... Same thing happens on every forum all over the world! No one was having a pop at Burnell, just chatting about this potential new signing and how he could improve the squad!
