Mole Valley SCR 4 Banstead Athletic 2 :)

 

A game of 2 halves,Banstead cruising at 2-0 H/T,but the 2nd half performance from the Valley was impressive,albeit Bansteads defending and shape was woeful.Have always said that Fitness was a big key at this level,and last night proved the point.

From a neutral's point of view (taken from the another Forum)

 

Hartley Wintney 2-3 Cobham

Combined Counties 1st Division

 

A game of two halves. Cobham the better in the first half, 3-0 up at the break. It flattered them a bit, but their chances were well taken. Hartley just looked poor up front and at the back. Two half time subsitutions for the hosts and they had the best of the second half. They pulled one back early on, but thereafter didn't really threaten the goal as often as they should from their possession. A few chances and a good save, plus one cleared off the line. They did pull one back from a well taken freekick in the 89th minute, a late surge saw Cobham clear off the line; not quite completely over according to nearby spectators and crucially the linesman, much to the dismay of the home players. Still with better finishing they wouldn't have needed it.

The Pensioner, think your forgetting Hartley's 2nd goal the free-kick was a ridiculous decision from the referee, wasn't just one way and Cobham deserved the win.

 

Not saying that Cobham didnt deserve the win as we were poor and got what we deserved, but the referee did not have a good game. Confused players with his decisions and was not clear when playing advantage. It should have been a penalty, but it was too little too late from Hartley's point of view. Yes the free kick was dubious, but what a strike!

Referee had a stinker! Blatant penalty disallowed goal disallowed when it clearly crossed the line. Still cannot blame him for the 3 goal start given to Cobham.

 

Clearly the standard of refereeing in this division is on a downward spiral.

 

 

Lost ! .......oh lets blame the referee................poor sods !

Fitness is paramount at this level............well at every level !

Banstead change players like the weather... everyday ! It's impossible to keep up with their comings and goings. Another (or used to be) a loan club, won't get anywhere taking on loan players. Heaven knows how many players have played for them this season ! Wonder how many games Rivers had for them during his short reign !............ something is desperately wrong there for whatever reason I don't know, but I plan to watch them and when I do, I will see for myself.

Fair dues on the order, but is it better saying we were poor but the referee was bad too?

 

The statement it not based on one game. Stems from the first home game against Guernsey.
