Have to say that though Guildford were technically the better side tonight, their tactics of continually falling over or crying off to the officials at the slightest touch from an opponent were nothing short of disgusting.

Unfortunately one of the South Park management team decided to be vocally critical of the officials at half time which went against his side in the 2nd half as the above tactic by Guildford was met with a favorable decision each time.

Also disappointed to see Will from GC entering into verbals with a couple of South Park spectators after his sending off. If Kevin Rayner had any discipline in his team then Will should have been sitting in the dugout and not standing amongst home supporters but hey what do i know, Kevin played for Scunthorpe(??) so far more knowledgeable than i'll ever be

Unfortunately DG, when a player is sent off he is not allowed to sit in the dugout so with the changing rooms on the opposite side of the ground to the dugout it would be quite difficult for the manager to keep an eye on him. As it was Will was standing with some people from Guildford, close enough for me to hear the chat that was going on and which I thought was no more than a bit of banter from both sides. It was actually quite amusing as the level of said banter between both participants was quite poor in terms of quality.

As for the falling over, I can't remember us getting a free kick in the first half! Can we just agree the ref was not very good!

Naming them does no good, the powers that be should be out watching them perform,do you realy think they take any notice of what we mere mortals say on here.Thought the Ref. last night had a decent game at Mole Valley,3 pens,1 red,5 yellows, but he even he was accused of wearing a yellow shirt by some supporters. To be honest I think Yellow and Red cards, should be replaced by £10 and £50 notes being waved, then it might hit home to players what it is costing them.Maybe a case of ON THE SPOT fines should be introduced,as we all know Players never carry any Cash.Fiona at Surrey F.A. will be rubbing her hands with glee this morning,£300,000 WAS PAID INTO THE KITTY LAST YEAR.Nice little earner, and then you have to give them post match hospitality.

Smudge I agree officials at out game wernt bad (probably got more stick than they deserved if I'm to b honest) but we shud defo have had a 3rd peno late on when ur goalie clipped our player not the ball in a one on one. Think ref was worried he knew wud have had had send goalie off as well.

milesy4 i was at the game and thought you had a poor game. the ref did seem to be totally against guildford and then against park for the last 20 and agree was poor. . As for auditions and screaming for cards thought your asst was the winner and was warned by the ref for his actions. Clearly the better team won, entertaining game and good luck to park in the vase at Whitley.

I'm not sure what naming the officials on here would achieve. Firstly, the information is publically available so there is no big secret. Secondly, we have seen before officials being praised for their performance in one game ("Best ref in the league"), and then getting absolutely slated for a different game ("Shouldn't be refereeing in the league").

A quick point on fouls: 'Intent' was removed from the Laws of the Game a while back. All that matters is whether a challenge was careless (free kick), reckless (free kick + caution) or excessive/dangeous (free kick + dismissal). That means it is possible for a challenge to be a foul even if there is no contact! The classic example would be a two footed lunge which if the opponent had not seen coming and jumped out of the way, could have snapped his leg!

Also, with regard to cards and fines: Fines associated with them are not the perogative of the referee. We just send in the details and that's it. So whether a fine is fifty pence or £35, that's down to the FA. Referees just give what they see (and remember some cautions are mandatory).

One word for last nights game - embarrassed. Completely embarrassed at 2 of the 3 officials we were given for the game. Embarrassed that a linesman, bottled giving offside and handball for their first goal, because they were all celebrating (he was nearly a mute the entire game). Embarrassed a penalty was given, because the linesman felt there was intent to foul, agreed there was no actual foul, simply a very clever dive right in front of him, but there was intent. The ref then proceeds to send off our cb for a second yellow for saying 'this is a joke' when in fact it was me. No point trying to tell him he is wrong, as he was so pig ignorant you couldn't say a word to him all night, telling players to shut up at every opportunity. Embarrassed by Guildford for as clearly stated, treating the game more like an audition with the amount of screaming and pleading for cards. Finally, wait for it.....after asking how long was left, with the ref indicating 4 minutes, the whistle was blown 30 seconds later, before all 3 officials walked straight off the pitch shaking none of the players or management's hands. Don't get me wrong, their performance didn't deserve one, but isn't that what happens at the end of the game? Respect towards referees...yeah yeah, unfortunately, there was zero from the officials last night. Taking nothing away from Guildford, they're a good side, and they maybe didnt deserve to go away with less than a point but 3 different men in black would have made it a completely different game. Wanted to wait until this morning to write on here to calm down a bit, but that didnt work, it was simply a disgrace and the worst performance from officials I've ever witnessed in my career. Queue whoever wants to have a pop at me talking about the officials....

Although you're well within your rights to say what you feel as this is a forum, just be careful mate as Whitelaw will be all over this and could be in contact with South Park about your words.

It's petty that you can't say what has happened and although the officials have a tough time, there is a serious lack of consistency throughout officiating across the country. Some who understand the game and think before making rash decisions and some, who clearly have no clue and go OTT with every little thing!!

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Have heard from many that Guildford were good value for the win including one SP player. I dont think I can recall a game where officials have been responsible for a 3 goal loss, unless they are poking the goals in the net. If they are poor they are normally poor all round not just for one team.

As for Fiona Cheesman Smudge: she has the best job in the world. She sits in a big chair, counts cash and recycles the same lines. "It's up to the FA" and "now its a games ban appraoch rather than time there is no appeal". The Surrey FA must have a bank balance like Hugh Hefner.

I have to agree with the above, it's the FA that set the fines for yellow and red cards. Although I'm sure some on here will disagree I bet if you looked at all the cards dished out by referees on this league, 80-90% would be more than justified. If a player kicks the ball away and picks up a yellow card is it the referees fault that the player is going to get a £10 fine or is it the players fault?

With yellow cards I would like to see the FA double the fine for dissent to £20 and reduce the the £10 fine currently set for reckless tackles, persistent infringements etc. I would be interested to see whether this reduced the amount of cautions for dissent, personally I think it would and I think it would give the clubs no choice but to ensure their players clamp down on it.

Smudge the fine for a red is £35 not £50.

Banshee - Your profile says "supports Banstead" yet you were at the Guildford game? Scouting?

Observer 89 - We had a player sent off recently and he got a 3 game ban and a £50 fine!

My wife went to Epsom v Sutton in the SSC last night.

Just thumbed through the programme.

80 pages - in colour, tons to read, well laid out, minimal advertising and all for £2. How do EEFC afford to do this?

Great effort!

Cheers Banshee, top man/woman.

Cheers Intershminter, if you read my comment, I said "Taking nothing away from Guildford, they're a good side, and they maybe didnt deserve to go away with less than a point." Maybe im going crazy, but pretty sure this is complimenting Guildford and isnt implying that we should have on the game? Maybe read the whole post first.

I think the pressure put on the referee last night by the Guildford players constantly berating him after any slight bit of contact - lead to him having a poor game. It's a shame as they are easily good enough to win games without influencing officials.

They probably deserved to win it, although maybe not 4-1. If the linesman infront of the Guildford bench wasn't so eager to give them a penalty when there was clearly no contact - it may have been a different story.

Guildford will win the league IMO. Hope they get promoted this year too as will be good to see if they can take the same arrogance in to the Ryman league or whether they will struggle not being the big fishes anymore. Very good side, but don't they just know it!
