Enfield Town v Wealdstone

Be very interested to see how many of the Wealdstone Players were first team.

If this was a mix of their Fringe Squad Players / Res team / Youth etc.... CAN WE GET SOME ON LOAN.

Different Class.

Looking at the Wealdstone web site it would appear that from the starting eleven they had 7 first teamers and the 2 Watford loan players.

Compared with Town who played with about 5 youth.

So, on reflection perhaps 6 - 0 was to be expected.

Some highlights here inc five of the goals... missed the second one.

The two Watford loan players were Connor Smith and Britt Assombalonga who scored two each. Smith was best player on the pitch by far. Both have been on the bench for The Hornets and Smith was runner up in Sky One's Football's Next Star programme.

Good to see some youth teamers getting a chance. Connor Bolton looked a decent player and was unlucky not to score.

Onwards and upwards to Leiston now!!!

Enfield Town (0) 0

Wealdstone (3) 6 Assombalonga 9, 59, Dyer 11, Fitzgerald 40, Smith 52, 89.

Attendance 137

With a line up weakened by the exertions of Saturday’s encounter with Grays, Enfield never quite had the ability to cope with the strength and pace of the premier outfit. They weren’t helped by two quick goals early on when Brett Assombalonga and Alex Dyer both found the target in the space of two minutes. When Scott Fitzgerald buried a penalty just before half time the writing was on the wall. Substitutions either side of half time failed to shore up the Enfield defence and a second half goal from Connor Smith and another strike from Assombalonga had the game effectively finished with half an hour to go. Enfield soldiered on, but without creating much to threaten the Wealdstone goal. It was a tough initiation for some of the younger players thrown into the fray but they did well. Some good reaction saves from Charlie Crowley late on kept the score down, but he could do nothing to stop a superb strike late on from Assombalonga.

Enfield Town: Charlie Crowley, Lee Allen(Daniel Laurent 45), Michael Bardle(Rhys Hunt 45), Dave Kendall, Craig McKay, Neil Johnston(Scott Hayes 76), Walid Matata, Rudi Hall, Daniel Ailey, Bryan Hammatt, Conor Bolton.

Subs Not Used: Aaron Cato, Michael Ewang.

Wealdstone: Toutis Poniskaitis, James Hammond, Kourtney Brooks, Alan Massey, Sean Cronin, Alex Dyer, Connor Smith, David Hicks, Scott Fitzgerald, Eddie Adjei, Brett Assombalonga.

Subs: Richard Jolly, Scott McGubbin, Jonathon North.

Last nights match is now history, but even if we had won there would not have been an Enfield local derby.

Over at Brimsdown the other MSC result was Enfield 1893 1 - 3 AFC Hayes.

I spoke to one of their lot yesterday , They too had a weakened side with 4 first team players against a pretty much full strength AFC Hayes .
