ground development

With crowds of under 400 what is the point in the development that has been put forward (by the looks of things probably won't get out of the ground). It gives nothing to the community.

Surely a look at Maidstone an weather pitch would be the answer a 7 day a week money maker as well as a much needed training pitch for the first team.

Special report sky sports news tonight I believe has something about artifical pitches.

Perfect for us we talk of promotion but everyone knows we pay top dollar but are happy with mid table.

Delete it if you want al I'll still support the gate but I'm a realist.

Because if you build a great ground suited to higher level football the fans will come, the players will come and the club will have a sound business model for the future.

Without the development we will be ryman prem at best.

Look beyond today and see the potential. Crowds of 1500+ in conference. .

Dartford is a very good example pagey.

However I believe there development was built with a great deal of green interest such as the living stand and water recycling facilities. Not just a travel lodge. they also have a great catchment area we are stuck out on a limb down here where people would rather watch charlton pathetic and maybe THE GILLS Than watch their local side.

Yes crowds of 1500 in the conference where most teams have 100-200 travelling support some with more. Our local derbies with ramsgate when we were both in the prem attracted similar crowds surely that is the highest gates we can attract. Put a poor run together and you are back to the 3-400 regulars.

We had a good run getting to the conference and enjoyed every bit of it but in the near future it won't happen again, new ground or not. (just look at the last few seasons and this) big money spent, different managerial ideas but same ending we are ryman prem not better or worse.

A flipping good job most people don't think like that! If sport is about nothng else, it is about ambition and the developemt is being put in place to support sporting ambition.

The higher up the pyramid you go, the more big games there are, and the bigger, better stadium you have to host them, the more people will come.

Yes sport is about ambition but surely it has to be sustainable a 5000 seater stadium with 3-400 fans to fill it and on a good day 1500.

With a hotel next to it. a hotel that would be located in such a prime tourist location in thanet. That will be full all year round actually I don't think it will ever be full!. To do this we are going to take a bit of public land. I as a margate fan not a ramsgate one can see how this wouldn't be viable.

Prove me wrong but I still think the players will come out of portacabins in 5 years time.

'Bazza', one of your earliest posts on this forum (July 24) was this:

What a week the stadium gets the planning approval we have all been waiting for (Have some of that Mr Able and everyone else at deadwood)

We are all entitled to change our opinion. However, I also notice your posting style has changed. Much more literate than it used to be. Given the rather bizarre experience some people on this forum had with you before the Concord game, I am assuming you have a mental illness. No shame in that, but I think you do need to seek some kind of help.

I'm sorry margateshot that must be the reason travellodge re submitted a new application with a smaller amount of rooms.

As for mental illness I didn't realise a change in opinion resulted in being tarred with being mentally ill.

I have been thinking for a while about the ground just cannot see it as a viable option.

Oregan I think if I am not going mental we cleared up the fact that I'm not bazza the rams fan.

AFC Telford (a bit more of a realistic example than chelsea) have a similar set up with a hotel which is right by the ground with some rooms overlooking the pitch.

Its been there a few years (including when Watson got a hatrick when Margate played telford) and seems to work well.

I believe it was erected before telfords previous conference days

TB"s posts may have more literacy than they used to but he still can't spell. What a negative and pointless post, may have well just said 'let's never prepare to be successful' although I do feel we might be being trolled here. What's the point of being a football fan with that attitude, every fan believes one day their club will be a success.

Definately being trolled in my opinion. Does anyone know TB? He keeps requesting lifts to away games but has never been seen at one. Does anyone know him at HDP? The only people he seems to be on familiar terms with are the occasional Ramsgate fans who come on here as evidenced by his reply to Ramsgate'60' on 25th November in the "Note to Mummy Bunny" thread:

"Colin, Like I said before its in the past couldn't really see you Bazza Ian and co kicking people in however you do yourselves no favours with the aggressive attitudes some of you put forward on your forum."

Seems odd to me that a diehard Margate fan who's not known to many/any at HDP is on first name terms with those from the other side. Then again I'll be happy to be proved wrong - see you at the bar at the Met Police game TB?

What annoys me is when you take a look at todays football league you see around 9-10 clubs that we were fighting it out with in our conferance days with Doncaster by far being the highest of the clubs we played . AFC Wimbledon being the newest club we have played now being football league . What have all these clubs done that we seem to have not , why has it gone right for them and not for us . Surely after 10yrs of waiting you would think it would be done and dusted .

Maybe if all parties congregated in a hall somewhere ie. the football club the council the travel lodge and lastly the surporters and thrashed out the rediculous mess up that this has become we might find ourselves in a new stadium this time next yr but we all no we will still be arguing the case in 12mths time .

I myself can`t understand why the council won`t allow the stadium project to kick off , take a look at Dartford and the way the council backed them all the way ,now Dartford have a sucessful football team which the people of Dartford can be proud of . Football brings people together in many ways just as it did when we were a Conferance side . At HDP we had an average att of 1700 in our 1st season , how good would that be to have that back . The big Donnie guys staying in Margate for the weekend just like the wig and tash Southport fans who spent 2 nights in the town when they came down and the 800 Hereford fans that desended on HDP . The council have to get real and make this happen then the town will get sucessful again and all because of a stupid game that we all love .

With reference to the dartford ground though surely if Thanet council was to build a stadium like dartfords then it would have to be for both of our clubs? Like it was years ago at jacky bakers (correct me if I'm wrong) Westwood cross would be good. That would then release southwood and hartsdown park for housing etc. ( am I talking rubbish?)

Personally I don't like dartfords ground it looks like a concrete jungle and has no charactor,

When we played u the other week I got there quite early and had some chips from the mobile at the side and all joking aside looking back at your stand, bar etc it looked quite smart, if the other end could look similar then it would look nice. Not loads of concrete. Like dartford surely. One ground I do like is tonbridge angels nice and neat.

Wandering off topic slightly but this council does not have foresight or vision or budget to build a community stadium. The only thing Dartford council and TDC have in common is tht they are both in Kent.
