Well PTG Rhodes will want to know how many left turns you made, how many red lights added to your journey, whether you were a front seat or rear seat passenger, what type of car it was, make, model, colour and engine size, whether diesel or petrol and what CD was playing at the time, you know the rules

Apologies for not making notes.

I will bare it in mind for my next game.

... and all because Rhodes disagreed with a couple of offside calls which PTG made/didn't make against Kentish Town at least 4 years ago!

Against Cheshunt Reserves I think.

Both were not off side as I recall.

Afraid not WB Bobby Moore was never part of the Herns Lane set-up, our only claim to fame would be two ex full internationals that managed the club, Harry Hibbs (England) and Alec Massie (Scotland). Other links would be stretching it, we did have George Furlong (brother of Paul Furlong) play 28 games for us and a former manager Ray Sullivan discovered a certain John Barnes whilst he was manager of Sudbury Court.

Bobby Moore's only link to the South Midlands (be it a very very broad one) would be Oxford City however I must point out that at the time of his involvement with them they were still members of the Isthmian League.

Yes but if I had taken offence to every wrong decision gone against my club (one occurring in a cup final against Selby many moons ago) I would be very bitter and twisted, you just have to accept them and move on - something it seems Rhodes is incapable of doing so ............... hence the comment pathetic.

errr karen i don't remember that one..............thought we won that one fair and square!

Herts Senior Centenary Trophy Final played at Ware on the day of the Hillsborough disaster, Richard Mays conned the referee into getting Mick Fredericks sent off. Who knows if we would have won with a full side but the decision certainly played its part.

By the way did you go on to play for Welwyn Garden City later in your career? If your name means who I think it is.

Andy, you were a legend, 174 appearances and 24 goals and I must have watched at least 95% of them.

Did you know that Richard Mays is still playing?

is he? who for?

Perhaps "still playing" is exaggerating! He's registered for Lemsford in the Herts County League, but hasn't played this season yet. Last season he was playing for Eight Bells Old Hatfield in the County League. I saw a game in which he played and spotted him instantly by his flat footed running style - looked just the same as he did 20 years ago!

Richard Mays,Micky Freds - A couple more names and this could turn into a HTFC retro late-80s thread ...

When Denis Gibbs was the manager of Selby in SML my dad ran the reserves. So I have some fond members of Selby, no club house just 2 extra dressing rooms for some half time tea and then down to the pub.. Does anyone remember Carlton U18's well I ran that team for 2 seasons, so long ago........

Not a great game... The pitch at Wodson is not in a great condition which obviously didn't help. Pictures and small match report on 'the cold end'............click the link below and keep reading.
