FA Vase Fourth Round

Recommended Posts

I'm not being funny but who have Ampthill Town really beaten en route to the 4th Round of the competition, okay they have done well to get past Essex Senior League sides Barkingside, Basildon United and Haringey & Waltham Development as well as Sussex County League outfit Lancing but they were fortunate to get a bye to the Second Qualifying Round stage and will find Oadby Town a different kettle of fish altogether.

A rhetorical question Mr Rhodes. Or is this another one of your jokes?

Krafty - In my opinion the Essex Senior League is really only Step 6 level, it's not a good quality Step 5 division and Lancing was a good draw for Ampthill when they could have easily got something a lot more difficult. Don't get me wrong as I'm not taking anything away from their achievement but lets see how they get on at Oadby Town.

Perhaps it could be praise in disguise from Cliffy, mind you being bitter and jealous as he is I much doubt it.

Truth is you can only beat what's in front of you, and that they did.

Ref Off Ref - That's exactly what I'm saying, I'm not taking anything away from the Club's achievement

It is bloody hard to get to the 4th round for anyone let a lone a level 6 side like Ampthill. Well done to them. In the Vase anyone can beat anyone else generally so it is a good cup to play in. We played Enfield 1893 in Round 2, in two very close games which they won after a replay and extra time on sudden death penalties. They are from the Essex Senior league and a good side they are and they are in the 4th round too.

Uncle T - There are a handful of good sides in the Essex Senior League and, as you say, Enfield 1893 are one of those but take Basildon United for example as a blind school could have beaten them the day Ampthill Town went there in the First Round and won 4-0

Do you have this paragraph saved for a copy and paste and just change the team names? I seem to remember something very similar being posted the last two rounds.

It's easy to sit behind your computer and say "these weren't very hard games" etc - but if you have actually seen anyone play from the Essex League or the Sussex then your "opinion" might have some more credibility - instead you have to lower yourself to being a constant WUM.

No4 – Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t being disrespectful to the Essex Senior League but I’ve heard a lot of people say that it isn’t the best Step 5 division in the Country and teams have gone straight into it from Step 7 in the past, bypassing Step 6, which is proof in the pudding isn’t it

Whether we beat Basildon, or Basil Brush it matters not...Ampthill Rhodes are in Round 4.

And take it as fact from No.4, no game is easy, if you have that mind thought then you'd be in for a shock.

The first side from the SSML to ever reach Round 4, irrespective of what happens in the Oadby game.

Live with it you sad, clubless, clueless, jealous t**t

This is incorrect - you are the first SSML Division One side to ever reach Round 4

If memory serves me correct Selby were the first SML side to reach the Fourth Round of the FA Vase back in 1986/87. They lost to a side from somewhere on the South Coast I believe. My first season involved in South Midlands football.
