...Just a quick message to say thank you to all those at Enfield Town FC who made mine and my friends day yesterday so utterly fantastic! The four of us (should've been 5 but he was late!) met Martin Cantrell outside the ground, and he gave us a very informative and professional tour of the new stadium - my mates who came along were all new to non-league football and really weren't sure what to expect - one of them genuinely thought we would be walked around a roped of pitch with a couple of park benches at the side!

The inside of the main building looks so neat and tidy and has a complete professional feel about the place. It's great to see that we have such good facilities that even include a proper office and a dedicated laundry room! The atmosphere really was good, the players walking up and down the coridoors whilst we were there genuinely seemed happy and excited to be there getting ready to play for the Town - passion and pride.

We then went outisde through the players tunnel to have a better look at the main stand and the pitch, both of which looked fantastic. We were all so impressed at just how good the place looks - you can easily envisage Conference football being played there at some point in the near future.

Another thing we noticed - everyone is so polite and friendly there, I actually lost count of the amount of people who came over to us to say hello - my mates were chuffed to bits at how homely the place is, almost like, as my mate put it, "being at your nans house". And of course, we went up to the bar and put a fair amount of money into the tills! The draught lager itself is really good by the way - far better then you would get served in a lot of pubs to be honest.

As for the game itself, I won't go into too much detail as it's been discussed in another thread - but the 3 points were absolutely huge. I was hoping for a thrilling match to really hook my mates to the Town, but it wasn't to be. I would've gladly taken a point from the game, but the lads on the pitch absolutely worked their socks off, even with playing virtually an entire half with 10 men.

And then of course, we scored the winner deep into stoppage time - and trust me, me and my friend's actually went mental. I lost my phone temporarily, and a fair bit of loose change fell out of our pockets - but seriously, that goal pretty much clinched the deal and has turned my 4 mates into Town fans who now want to come with me on a regular basis for games. Superb!

One thing my friend was so impressed about was the celebration by the players after that goal was scored - every single person on the bench emptied out to get involved - pure raw emotion, brilliant stuff!

We missed the confrontations at the end of the game as we headed straight to the bar to spend yet more money - but it was a treat to see the players come in and join everyone for a few drinks. Plus of course to be able to chat with the regulars and introduce ourselves was great and was a pleasure meeting loads of you.

In fact, we got fairly unsober as the night went on - and we managed to get a few songs going in the bar... "We're gonna win the league" etc etc. We stayed there until about 7.30pm or so, and had a good old sing song as we left and headed down the stairs, haha, hopefully we weren't too embarrassing or annoying! But to be fair, by then we'd drunk many pints and were simply overjoyed at what a great day we'd had.

So, once again, thank you SO much to Martin Cantrell for showing us around, and to everyone we met throughout out the day. We'll definitely be coming back on the 17th for our home game, and I should be bringing a few more people with me who were "gutted" to have missed out on what had clearly been a superb day.

We're going to win this league.

See you all soon!
