Some (not all) of their fans were a miserable bunch. Didn't make for a nice atmosphere (bit like the Sutton fans moaning at their own players when they were 4-0 up at home against us). We didn't seem to get a lot of width until the second half which hampered us. Leatherhead had a few good chances in the second half. Good singing from the Urchins despite the lack of numbers.

 

To the credit to the players, they kept going and the last few minutes was all pressure from Hornchurch which eventually told with the goal.

 

Pitch was awful, but I suspect you're going to get that at this time of year. Lewis Smith had to repair part of the pitch at one point!

 

Pleased with the three points in a forgettable match.

That was Mick The Lip back in the 70's. Leatherhead were on a cup run and he was slagging of professional players. Fiver in your sock for non league players back in them days.

Leatherheads cup run features in the book/film "Fever Pitch" the main charachter came from Letherhead and although supported Arsenal followed their cup run which included a defeat at home to Millwall,think he got a kick in if i can remember it rightly.
