EFC Reserves/Youth

I've seen all the posts about Terry Back putting out a 'weakened side' for this match. Well my Son plays for the Reserves, and we were told back in the Summer that he would play the Youth/Reserve teams in this competition and also one other. It is being done for the right reasons, whether ETFC supporters believe this or not, and to be quite honest its really none of their business. Yes, I have noticed your first team results, and they are good, BUT I have seen the Reserve Team play every week, and believe me they are good. I know our Youth team has good players, as well.

Maybe this match will be to big for our Reserves/Youth, who knows, but they will all give 100%. At least Terry Back is giving them this chance. Looking on the ETFC website, you would'nt even know you have a Youth Team. No mention of them anywhere. Is that because they don't "Play in the Borough". Worse then that, they play at our Reserve Teams ground.

Just support your own team, stop all the bickering and just enjoy the game. After all, its called a Charity Cup for a good reason.

Lady - We have all heard the no lose scenario put about by Mr Back and the other EFC supporter. In the past EFC have always avoided playing Town by losing matches so they don't have to play us in a subsequent round of a Middlesex Competition. This is the first senior match where the two teams were drawn against each other and what does Mr Back do but run away and hide. Chick, chick, chicken................

The argument goes ....we put the kids and reserves out and if they lose we say it was only the kids and a few reserves. If they win then that is an added bonus because they are just a pub team and we've proved it. Mr Backs argument is that they have already won (and he'll keep his job)!

But if we win the record books will show that on the first ever occassion the teams met in competition.

In fairness to Mr Back I have only EVER heard good things about his keeness to encourage the youth teams and I have no quarrel with encouraging the younger players.

The bitterness goes back before Mr Back came on the scene to the asset stripping of a community asset, (the ground at Southbury Road) and the leaving of the Borough by the first team. No serious plan or intention to return either of a once great football team.

We gave up on all the empty promises and as a group of fans started our own club back in the borough with the open intention of replacing the old club.

If he had been the owner of Manchester United and done this he would not have been allowed to do what he did, but this is little old Enfield.

Hollie is obviously feeling a little prickily

Charity begins @ home (oops you sold yours (ours) and just abounced paid to rent a new one. (chegue this one out; sorry shall I re-present this again!)

IF you have read the various postings then you will have realised that most of us expect to have some fun tonight, and enjoy a good atmosphere ( sory you and your 36 other supporters may no recognise it; but try and enjoy it. But you have to remember your club has left a lot of hurt people in Enfield; we loved and supported that club and some ******************* went and spoilt it all. don't expect any favours.

At the end of the night it is a game of football.... God Bless Bill Shankly!

ps best of luck to your son

FB - what exactly was "well said" it appears that the TOWNERS are quite relaxed about this game; and just looking forward to another game in ENFIELD; whilst u lot are getting wound up.

look foward to meeting the 37 of you tonight; maybe instead of having your team read out over the PA; we can have your supporters read out . LOL

Just to be a bit pedantic, the nickname that appears to be evolving is Towners, Freebird. Just like the new nickname for EFC seems to be evolving from out of your backside, namely droppings because you appear to be dropping down the pyramid rather quickly (and you're s*** as well). Doubt we'll see you next season in Ryman 1 as you will be either out of business or in Ryman 2.

Don't like the Moon Under Water.

Don't like the Cricketers much, tell the truth, it's all too new and plastic and fake, and too obviously a chain pub which is what McMullens has descended to. I suspect they have had a Consultant type in to tell them how to modernise their image. I don't like bar staff in uniform (even if it is only a polo shirt) and American/air hostess recited greetings - "what can I get you?" - it's even poor grammar! They are very fierce about licensing hours too.

I prefer a proper pubby sort of pub.

I see they are refurbishing the Robin Hood too. Pretty naff place before, but a lovely garden.
