Guernsey FC v Cobham

Recommended Posts

Ross has 39 goals in 21 competitive starts and 2 substitute appearances. With a number of home games to come and some of our better creative players returning from injury (Rihoy and Dyer) I wouldn't be too surprised if his tally reaches close to 2 per game by the end of the season. Injury permitting of course.

Does anybody know how many goals last season's top scorer scored, and what is the highest tally in a season in Coco Div 1?

Does it matter what's been done in past ? Ross Allen is a legend and I don't want to compare him to anyone else past or present

Baker has 24 in 17 apps for us Plus he out scored Allen today. he's catching him slowly lol. On a serious note it's amazing the amount of goals he has .In the past few seasons if someone got near 30 they had done well. But think they afew player near the 30 mark and we not yet past Christmas. Better strikers or worst defences this year ?

Evers, in all the CCL games I have seen this season, defences in general have been poor in my opinion. This weekend, there were 5 teams/games in the CCL Prem with a 4 goal win, 2 4 goal wins and a 6 goal win in CCL Div1.

I don't want to take the glory from the strikers but when I saw TRS Cove vs Croydon footage and both defences looked poor but, that is easy to say, remember it is the TEAM that defends, so should the defences always take the brunt of the blame unlesss it incurs an unforced error ?

In addition, not sure its me, but players in general look unfit...........just an observation !

I wouldn't say the teams I have seen are unfit, but Guernsey FC are very fit.

GD a question:

Why are your attendances dropping?

I'll try that one...

Apart from the first game in the league which was a big gate, the 13.00 kick offs have given smaller gates, presumably because there are a lot of things on Saturday mornings that parents cart kids around to and 13.00 is just a bit too tight to make. This week was a 15.00 k/o but it also clashed with the switch on in town of the christmas lights and this traditionally draws 1000's. It is also now winter and every club will have some fair weather followers. We still had over 1000 present!!

Did any other CCL club get anywhere near 1,000 spectators this weekend?

Did any other Ryman or Southern League club get anywhere near 1000 spectators ?

Other than Conference South games at Dartford & Woking, I believe Guernsey had the biggest (Southern Based) League gate outside the Conference Premier.

As Maisie said a combination of the Town lights switch on with Santa and heavy rain forecast ( we were lucky it didn't rain during the game ) made for a lower gate. When it gets colder and wetter our gate might fall below 1,000 for the first time.

Forget about Crowds,Ross Allen, who was the Cobham Goalscorer,he is a Legend. The first C.C.L.1 player to score at Fortress Footes Lane,he will go down in C.C.L. Folklore,or signed by a Conference South Club.

It was a cracking goal as well ! Watch Channel TV online later tonight. Also watch out for Ross Allens run from the half way line and then blasted home to the bottom corner !
