Hornchurch Attendances

Eastside Urchin

Does anyone have any of the highest attendances from the old days.

Many romturd fans always seem to harp on about our days gone by when 2 men and a dog used to watch the urchins, which is of course complete garbage, but when i started watching in the early 80's gates were half decent but i believe in the 50's,60's & 70's we used to get some very large crowds, does anyone have any figures???

The biggest crowd i can remember, before the previous owners was an FA Cup game against Chelmsford in the 90's,think there was around 6-700 in attendance, other than that we used to get a good 2-3'000 for pre season friendlies against the likes of west ham & arsenal.

Yes, Rob, it is complete garbage - dogs were banned from The Bridge when one ran onto the pitch and bit one of the players in the early 50s - therefore no dogs were allowed.

For more details of attendanances, please refer to the Official History of Hornchurch Football Club, where all known official attendances are listed. The current capacity of the ground is 3500 and therefore the gate of 3500 against Tranmere cannot be surpassed unless the capacity is increased
