Well good luck to them with that! It's strange that given the number of clubs up and down the country that have had new grounds built, the South East has seen few if any new developments. I can't think of a club apart from Maidstone who have actually made any progress (oh, sorry forgot Dartford).

I'm curious as to the venue Grays will be playing at next season if ETU is out of the picture; one thing I doubt is that they'll be groundsharing at Hornchurch! alan fenn Posted 2 hours ago pitchero_portrait_5050.jpg

If Grays want to groundshare with Hornchurch and the council agree, thats exactly what they could be doing next season. Barry Morgan Posted 2 hours ago sm_43037_1316611367.jpg

Do you honestly think that LBH would allow GAFC to share at AFCH when we are still without a permanent base?

And not being picky but isn't this a Non Boro News & Discussion item like the one I am just about to post?

There is enough antipathy between Grays and Hornchurch to make a groundshare improbable.

alan fenn Posted 11 minutes ago

I met a guy from the L&R department at the LBH this afternoon and we was talking about the state of the finances at the council, and how difficult it is to maintain the status quo due due to central funding issues. Hate to admit it, but the council are doing a grand job in keeping everything ticking over.

We also have to take into account that if Grays get promoted to RPL there's not many options open to them if they have to leave Thurock that have the necessary ground grading requirements.

Why on earth would Havering council want a team from outside the borough sharing their facilities????

Well spotted Rob, although I am confused as to why you would think I would want Grays to ground share with Hornchurch.

The local rivalry question though concerned Chelmsford City, who are now our new best friends, and IMO if Grays ever merge with anyone it will probably be Tilbury.

No.if you read the post by a Mr Bartlett,no doubt one of your geriatric posse,he asks about the rivalry between Romford & Hornchurch

Fair play, I miss-read the post, never met Mr Bartlett so I'm not sure if he is geriatric.

Still confused as to why you think I want Grays to ground share though.

Brilliant ,'new best friends'. Some RFC fans attended a nostalgia evening the other day at Chelmsford. My boss at work, a life long Chelmsford supporter said there was a smattering of RFC supporters there and Chelmsford were happy to take their patronage. He never mentioned anything about new best friends :biglaugh:

Another cracking post from good old clocksider lol,not bitter at all mate???

Thurrock FC?

Actually Alan does have a point. It is LBH's duty to us council tax payers to maximise revenue from their assets. What if Grays were to offer to double or triple the rent that AFC Tosspots currently pay for Hornchurch Stadium?

He who pays the piper calls the tune, whatever Hornchurch and their dwindling bunch of gloryhunters might think.

Such a bitter post! So why don't RFC offer 'double or triple' the rent to LBH and see what happens? As someone who has had a foot in both camps I feel some of you live in a dream world. If you spent the energy you expend on castigating AFCH in furthering the Westlands project instead then a groundshare would not be necessary - or have you given up on Westlands? When talking of dwindling crowds glass houses and stones come to mind.

alan fenn Posted 2 hours ago

Come on John, your better than that.

To suggest that Phil's post was bitter, and considering some of the the moronic posts on the Hornchurch forum directed at us, it almost beggars belief, as your shabby little club barely merits a mention these days.

During the past few weeks I watched two matches at Bridge Avenue, partly in an attempt to build bridges, and partly to see what AFCH was all about. As well as the Hornchurch supporters I already know, I met some really nice people, and every one of them are ashamed and embarrassed at the antics of the small minority of your supporters that post on your forum.

Knowing what a decent man you really are, I can only assume your post was heavily influenced by huge quantities of alcohol and you will explain yourself tomorrow.
