Prediction - Haringey Boro vs Royston Town

Recommended Posts

Loosely - Not SSML related but I thought this report from another's Forum would be of interest to you, enjoy:

Bedfordshire County League Premier Division

Wilshamstead (0) 0 v 7 (4) Shefford Town & Campton

Attendance 20ish

Admission, prog, refreshments; none

Yesterday afternoon and a short trip into Bedfordshire for a Beds League Premier game between Wilshamstead and Shefford Town & Campton . The new facility at Jubilee Park, Wilstead, opened near the end of last season but wasn't officially opened until July this year. A chat with the Wilshamstead manager revealed that he was having to field a weakened side this afternoon and was viewing the game with some trepidation! Unfortunately for Wilshamstead his fears were soon realised as Shefford plundered an early goal and went on to lead 4-0 at the break. Despite valiant efforts of the home side to stem the tide the score increased to 7-0 at the final whistle and a very comfortable win for the visitors.

Cliffy, I've a feeling other users will feel this is well off topic but you do seem to keep forgetting to answer my question while you've had my answers freely. I think it's part of the reason that you get others backs up on here and I know you enjoy that so I ask myself what point is there in your interaction? I think you're ill really because you never seem to want to change and maybe you should get help. What do you think?

Anyway. Haven't seen Wilshamstead's new facilities yet but boy did they need them! Saw the plans once and thought they looked impressive but then when your involved in the Beds League after a while anything with fresh paint on it and accompanied by a clean loo looks swish but in all honesty the plans were the DBs.

Shefford were a strong team BEFORE they linked with Campton and I'm not surprised at the scoreline, I think they thrashed us 7 - 1 once and we were lucky to get off that lightly, mind we had the same problem as Wilshamstead, a few injuries and I think even Steve came on at one point and nearly scored! The trouble with the Beds League is it just becomes a merry-go-round of managers and players moving around from team to team where once upon a time most players were from the local community location of the team, there was loyalty, interest and competition but little money ever and the FA and League are too keen on them spending it on upgrading and admin and I often wonder why these small committees even bother sometimes since they find the money, pay the bills and are left with a bunch of players who'll not turn up if the wind is blowing from the north. TBH I sometimes wonder if its beginning to get that silly in the SSML and all these leagues will undergo contraction and re-organisation sooner or later.

Still, all a little off topic so I'm sorry. Let me know if you consider getting help, I'll find you a few phone numbers.

Loosely - Your post was an insight, surely you must have had the foresight to know full well what you were letting yourself in for by joining the Bedfordshire League, the standard seems little better than Sunday morning football over Hackney Marshes or Wanstead Flats where players blow away the cobwebs from the night before on the lash and kick everything that move.

Well Cliff I'm afraid that I have to pull you up yet again for assuming things - something that people on here have mentioned about you too many times to count it seems - but if you'd ever bothered to actually visit a game played in step 7 Premier Beds League which is the equivalent of your step 7 in the SSML you might just stand a chance of knowing what you were talking about for a change, still, we don't expect much better from you these days, oh how you have fallen from those lofty days when you must have congratulate yourself on your heady appointment as a club sec and enjoyed that whip quick memory that seems to fail you so much now.

Some of the grounds are worse, some better, some enjoy better facilities then those found in the SSML, yes, hard to believe if people were to take your poor assumptions to heart. Never mind, least said soonest mended eh?

I note and I guess others will too that thats two questions of mine that you've failed to answer so I'll add a third:-

Why should people continue to interact with you, in fact what use are you to the SSML at all?

Maybe others can answer for you, you have so many fans.

You know the rule Winslow, NEVER ASS U ME! You've seen what it's done for Cliff, mangled his poor brain.

Glad I haven't bored at least one person with this off topic meandering path that our favourite damaged person has taken us down but I do expect the thread to be closed sooner or later, presumably when NF has allowed Rhodes his must have "Last Word"

Lol. So are Shefford Town connected to what was Shefford all those years ago? If I could write a programme that deleted anytime Rhodes begins a post with "Not entirely or all together SSML related".... I could go Dragons Den for investment!

Well I can't assume how many years ago that you are talking about Winslow, are you trying t catch me out lol?

Shefford Town were simply Shefford but I think it was only at the merging with Campton that they added "Town" Perhaps someone else can reassure you.

Back in the 80's no not trying to catch you out lol Just hadn't heard of Shefford in ages

Sorry, not trying to lead you down the garden path, but from memory Campton played up until the end of the 2009/2010 season as simply Campton, Shefford Town appeared on the scene at the AGM prior to the 2010/2011 season merged with Campton and not knowing anything about them other than they were sh it hot from the off I can't say other than we were all surprised to a club why they'd suddenly merged with Campton other than to consolidate teams and a quick entry into the league, perhaps these were your Shefford, perhaps not but Shefford Town give 1910 as when they were founded. I'm sure the residents from the SSML can fill us all in.

Sorry chaps but I've not being modding all weekend, this whole exchange would've got nipped in the bud quite early. Rhodes did make some twattish post today about me editted most of his stuff but you can clearly see when I have. That said I don't think it shows if an 'Admin' (above my pay grade) amends his drivel.

PS He didn't turn up at Phibbers on Friday evening. I stayed until 06:30 just in case.....

Well I've apologised already NF but I always think it's rude not to give honest answers even to Cliff's posts and you can see that I've tried to humour the poor old chap but since the Beds League is one of your feeder leagues it doesn't always harm to let the SSML know who might want to be on the horizon if they have the grading and Shefford Town & Campton certainly do.

Winslow, your answer from their Wiki page:-

Shefford Town & Campton Football Club is an English football club based in the town of Shefford, Bedfordshire. The team plays its home matches at STMA (Digswell), where the club has been based since its re-establishment. During the 2011–12 season, the club will compete at the 11th tier of the English football league system in the Bedfordshire County Football League Premier Division.

Originally formed in 1910 as Shefford Town, their first successful period came in the 1950s: starting in 1949–50, the team won two South Midlands League championships and three Beds Senior Cups within five seasons. Subsequently, the club finished as runners-up in the Parthenon League, and won the United Counties League title in 1960–61. Shefford would not match these achievements until the early 1980s, when the club was promoted from the South Midlands League's second tier in 1982–83 and won the league title a year later.

After relegation in 1990, Shefford Town folded in 1994. The town remained without a senior football team until 2009, when the club was reformed. In 2010 Shefford Town merged with near neighbours Campton.
