Prediction - Haringey Boro vs Royston Town

Latchford - Just to clarify is that for the attendance or the result

I don’t think Royston will have it all their own way but I’m sure Paul Attfield has done his homework and had Haringey Borough watched at Biggleswade United last Saturday. It’s certainly an old fashioned winner takes all tie and I go for Royston 2-1, possibly after extra time, attendance 75 so the little gateman Johnny Flynn will be busy for a change.

but if HB lose their cool, it could be a cricket score

OD's - You appear to know the Club well

OD's - Yes I see from the match report on Haringey Borough's website when you beat them 2-1 in October that they weren't happy however they have won every game since then other than a 3-2 defeat at Creasey Park against your bitter local rivals:

Hopefully it'll be a good game. If Enfield Town were not playing Grays Athletic at the QE STAD (top of the table clash) I would of liked to have seen this match. Would of been a good double header if one of the game's kick offs could of been changed??

I'll go for a narrow Royston Town win... maybe 1-2 with 10 mins left and a late Royston goal to make it safe... FT 1-3.

Attendance - I'm optimistic...in their last Vase away game at Barking an attendance of 105 was recorded.. Barking get better crowds than Haringey Borough but I think more Royston fans may travel to this one. Although...TRAVEL WARNING!! A small club called Spurs are at home to Bolton around the corner so this may effect the crowd. Royston fan's travel early as the A10 may be busy around the A406 junction...this may also put potential ground hoppers off. I'll guess the crowd at 94.

Also have to wish the best of luck to Ampthill Town at Lancing as well. I'm hoping for a draw in this one so I can hopefully go to the replay on Tuesday night if that's when it is!!!

Where is the biggest game in the area tomorrow??? ETFC V GRAYS (my choice of course), SPURS V BOLTON, ROYSTON V HARINGEY BORO,

I'll go for a diplomatic prediction.

2-2 with an attendance of 100.

I would have said 101 but have just remembered that Rhodes is banned from Coles Park.

I better buy a lottery ticket as well.

This game was a complete 100% committed battle from both sides on a truly awfull playing surface.

Games of two conflicting halfs with Haringey having the best moments of the first half and Royston the second

Not many clear chances in the first half Haringey could have scored from two well delivered set plays and the keeper made one superb block mid way through the half . Royston struggled with the conditions but gradually worked their way into the game and a high class move gave them a 37th minute lead.

Royston much the better in the second half shooting down the slope playing a more direct game taking the conditions out of the reckoning. The side maintained good pressure without creating clear cut openings and the Royston keeper made another superb block from Haringey's only attack.

Step in the referee who had an uncomfortable afternoon cemented by the award of two penalties (one to each team) both harsh at best. Royston's first on the word of a linesman after a seemingly good tackle , justice done keeper saved but Haringey never refocused from the decison and conceded a headed goal just 2 minutes later.

The Haringey full back continued his verbal barrage at the lineman and got a straight red and one or two more could easily have suffered the same fate if the officials had been stronger. Then a leveller when Haringey got a spot kick for an exceedingly harsh handball call which was scored with 8 minutes left.

On balance this game would have been better to watch on a better playing surface but both teams gave their all. Royston's greater quality in the attacking third was crucial as was two outstanding saves from their keeper. It really could have gone either way and it is clear to see why Haringey are making a decent fist of their season this season, capable of beating anyone on their day in the league I would say.

Royston battled well and with a strong spine in their team and the will power to win was evident throughout. Many teams would come here and slip up in these conditions but despite being without players as well they continue to get decent results

no didn't go to a game yesterday

So you didn't manage to get to a Dunton v Woburn or a Wilshamstead v Shefford Town & Campton for example to renew acquaintances with some old friends

Well my choice would have been Renhold United at home to Arlesey Town Reserves who had a 2 - 1 win. Good people at Renhold, friendly and generous but then you find that at most clubs in the Beds League. Not all fancy like the big boys of the SSML but they work just as hard.

What was your choice yesterday Cliffy and did you make it, you forgot to mention?
