Enfield Town vs Waltham Forest

Talk about a game of two halves.

First half, we were very poor. I said at half time that the score would be 4 - 2 and I was mighty close. I had a feeling we could not play any worse than we did between 7.45pm and 8.30pm.

I think the crowd was 240.

Good fightback. How about we start the game at 4.00pm on Saturday?

Wow, What a game.

Town "gave" WF 2 first half goals with a sloppy back pass and a stupid pen.

Credit to WF they ran their socks off and must have been very happy at half time.

Then BANG 4 GOALS in 28 minutes.

and WF kept it alive with another.

Very entertaining for some - nerve breaking for others !!

Well done Town - 3 more points and up to 2nd.

Another tough one on Saturday.

What a great game of football. Credit to WF who were much the better side in the first half. They could of been 3 up with another good chance. Showed some great team spirit by coming back and some of the goals were brilliant especially liam hope and Jon Moores. Gunz and Leon were excellent in the second half as was kirbs at the back. At the start of the season town would of lost the game which shows how motivated and playing for each other Steve has the team now.

Should have match highlights on the cold end sometime tonight.. I have reviewed the penalty for WF and it never was..

As Scoreline suggests papa lazarou has gone quiet of late. Can't think why?

I don't think we played that badly in the first half - they probably had the better of it, but I really don't think that we were as terrible as all that. We gifted them a goal with the poor backpass / mix-up, although we had ample opportunity to get rid leading up to that - I know it's great to be able to play our way out of defence, but at times hooking it clear is the best option. The penalty was soft - whether it was or wasn't is open to debate, but again it was a mistake in midfield that allowed Hammond to run into the box - if you make a challenge and don't get the ball, you're at the ref's mercy.

2nd half was very impressive - good header from Kirby, and goals 2 and 3 were both excellent, with a great lay off to John Moore from Liam Hope, and both very good finishes. This is where we can be very good: Liam's game isn't about sprinting past players, beating them or out muscling them in the way that Wallace and Osei do, but if we can get the ball to him around the box he nearly always makes the right decision, and can link up play very well.

The midfield 3 2nd half put in an excellent shift, and there was some good solid defending from the back 4 as well (clearing the ball at the right times and playing at the right times). Can't argue with the MoM decision, although I thought Jon Moore was in the running. It's positive that we are winning games when not playing at our best (e.g. 1st half vs. Chatham and last night), but we really will need to be bang on it and cut out mistakes against the likes of Grays, as I'm sure it will be an even tougher test. Still, 2nd in the table is a great achievement, so a massive 'well done' to Steve and the team - keep up the good work fellas!
