AFC Hornchurch v Hendon

At home we seem very 1 dimensional....whereas away we seem to use the flanks more.

Last night was truly awful...no pattern of play and our forwards seemed to play too far apart as Smith was playing deep picking up possession. I cant blame the team for having an off day as every team goes through a blip....but its annoying as we are clearly better then that but our jackel and hyde performances tell a different story. Roll on Saturday when we WILL get back on track

We didn't play to our best and got caught out by Hendon. The response from us after half time was better but we didn't score so we lost.

Hendon are a good side. Even if we played to our best it would have been difficult to win as it is not easy to break them down. Our recent record against them is poor and they are up there this season, so best we just move on quickly from this one and keep our spirit from the display at Thurrock.

I didn't think Hendon were that good.

All too often we overhit crosses, our passing was average at best, the ball seemed to bobble around making it hard to get any fluidity within the game. For me it sums up another argument in another thread regarding the groundshare. The pitch would never stand up to two clubs playing on it without serious investment, which we just can't afford.Ken works tirelessly on the pitch and it has looked better this season but you could see last night that now it's getting used and the weather is getting worse it gets bobbly in certain areas and I think it affects the players mentality as to getting the ball down and knocking it around. It is however getting drained again Monday from what I hear so it should be a lot better for the Trophy game

I also think that at home, when we go behind we struggle to get back into the game.Had one of the smith or Hayles chances gone in first half I would of backed us to win the game.

We really need to get into front first at home, then we seem to gain that little bit extra going forward and once in front usually win

The pitch last night should be excellent compared with what it will be when the weather gets worse though. Last night I could see how many times we pumped the ball forward in the air and when playing teams like Hendon they will make it difficult for us and get it back better. We want to play sides like Billericay and Canvey in a few weeks time and hopefully get points from them.

On the bright side if we continue our present run of form we won’t win the league but probably finish 5th thereby guaranteeing away matches in the play offs and certain promotion.

You have to give some credit to the whole team as they have done very well this season so far.

Cant expected them to win every game, we aren't in the ESL any more.

Our current position in the league means that we can drop a few places if unfortunate, but most of all we can move up.

Imo, if you are top, the only way is down and there is more pressure to remain there.

Still 20 something games to go, so still time.

Keep the Faith! COYU!!

Don't think anyone is losing the faith. It's more disappointment at our home form, which compared to our performances away from home is nowhere near as good.Problem with that is that our home form is usually what draws the crowds in and our crowd last night suggests that we lost 30 from last Tuesday's game.I am sure we will recover our home form and it's hopefully only a blip (it is only 2 games) but I don't remember too many teams getting promoted with a less than impressive home form lol

Someone earlier mentioned about the importance of scoring the first goal at home. I agree. I think that in the last three home games we have only scored two goals, not promotion form. There is a long way to go this season and I'm sure we will be there or thereabouts. Well done to the lads so far. I'm sure most would take where we are in the league and don't forget the Trophy! Onwards and upwards.

I think Hayles has been quality as has Reece.

I do agree tho Hunt in the centre with Curley is my preferable option with Spencer and Tam/Black on the wings

I think Glover in that holding role is a gimme, he keeps it nice and tidy, protects the back 4 and gives players like Hunt the license to do what he does, like against Thurrock. Three good centre mids though. Nice prob for Mr McF
