Hornchurch expectations part 2

So this 'super club' would be to the detriment of others?

IMO not at all Hasbeen, as the super club could only be a merger between willing parties it would always contain the DNA of all the original clubs, and the merged club would be stronger and in a better position to attract the next generation of non league supporters, something most non league clubs are failing miserably at.

Along the lines of the Collier Row saga?

How would Afch benefit financially from a merger?

I would imagine AFCH and RFC would cease to exist and a new club called Havering United, or whatever would be formed. If done with goodwill on both sides the new club would have the benefit of larger crowds with supporters of both clubs joining together. Never happen of coarse because the majority of fans from both clubs are against it.

i see where you are coming from but without a sizeable up front cash injection why would any one bother, be it Havering United, Hornchurch & Romford FC or any other name?

My original post on the Romford forum regarding mergers was hypothetical, and I agree that without a cash injection or assets the idea becomes much less attractive, for Havering it was suggested more for the next generation of supporters who wouldn't have tribal loyalties, and it could have the potential to become a club all the population of the borough could embrace, and hopefully have a greater chance of success. Unsurprisingly the overwhelming majority of supporters of both clubs are against the idea, and yet the majority of people that I have discussed this with, and who support neither club think it could work. Its all just an honestly held personal opinion that was made without any malice, but as usual in football circles, original ideas are misrepresented, intelligent debate is stifled and non league football continues its downward spiral.

Or because his forum is closed

Any way this is a Hornchurch form and this thread has totally gone off topic from what it originally started as!!

For my point I wouldn't be totally oppossed to a ground share if it suited us. The Stadium will always be known as Hornchurch stadium and with history on ourside RFC or any other team would be 'visitors'.

The fact of the matter is that RFC need this more than we do. When they didn't have their own place they wanted a ground share, then they were granted permission to develop Westlands and obviously it all went quiet (well apart from some letters in the RR) and then some realised that Westlands will probably never happen and some start bleating on about how a groundshare will be in 'everyones' best interest.and how it could be forced upon us!

I would have had more respect for some if they had just come out and said we are in the s**t so we need to share, not this happy families nonsense.

I do love the sport of it all mind :biglaugh:
