Not our best today , but lets live for the moment (taken as a quote from gary T !) These are the results we are grinding out, something over the last few season we did not !

Poor James at the end was torturing himself , as I feel he might have been off his game today !

Message to James ..your entitled to a few ...don't worry , we all have off days !

Other teams have slipped up today...we didn't...3 points is all that matters.

Last 15 I think it was a combination of taking our foot off the gas and our midfield tyring due to lack of match fitness.

Credit to Ashford who never gave up and nearly got something from the game.

Did enough today, shame we couldn't have held onto the lead at 4-1 as the goal difference boost would have been useful but the win is the important thing, especially with the brilliant results coming from the other teams putting us back on top.

Considering all the players unavailable today, we did well to get the win. Well done to the whole team.

James Warrington is a top top keeper who we are lucky to have. an underpar performance maybe but we still won and there has been at least 3 or 4 games where his saves have ensured the victory. St Neots and Leighton spring to mind straight away

heres hoping with Coyne etc back we can make sure we can keep this superb unbeaten run going. looks like Beaconsfield are major contenders now potentially so big games coming up if the weather holds with Beaconsfield and Bedworth a week apart nearer christmas. Bedfont won today so they wont be easy next week

so good that yet again we didnt really look like we would lose the game. we havent been behind in any league game for all that long for quite some time. good signs COME ON YOU REBELS

Agree.

Bedfont have had a massive boost today beating St Neots.

Before their manager resigned they signed 4 new players so next week will be a toughie.

Absolutely, even though they are in the bottom 3 they've only let in 33 in 18 games.

Unbeaten in 11 league games. This game last season we would hacve drawn or maybe even losst. Big improvment and almost threw it away but i guess our experience paid off in the end. Bedworth will be a very interesting game. Top of the league and everyone around us lost or drew today, more than likely one or two of thoes teams could be in for a bad run. 40points in 18 games, well done COYR!!!!

I think testament to the strength in depth of this division this season where, on their day, any team can beat any other team regardless of their league position.

Well we certainly did our best to throw that one away didn't we? It's never easy watching Slough Town FC, even when we are 4-1 up!

I was stood never James Warrington's father in the second half, after our fourth goal I turned to him and said "you think the game is safe now?" to which he replied "it should be". I said "remember - this is Slough Town FC"; so it turns out I was right!

I feel we coped without Coyne in the first half but missed him badly in the second. The amount of times they found time and space down the left (our right) flank was unbelievable. One or two good saves from Warrington (and a horrible miss) kept us ahead but we had chances.

I can only hope that we are sacrificing our defensive play in order to score more goals, (as we seem to have been doing over the past 3 or so weeks) and are not simply getting sloppy at the back!

I can agree with you Nathan that we do look vulnerable when we are attacked, with pace and movement, in our right back position.

Ashford's teeny weeny Italian did expose us today in that position and I'm sure it won't be the last time this season.

But the stats don't lie, we have the best defence in the league so why would Bates change things?

Nothing needs to be changed RR, yes Ashford had their chances but so did we... Our back 3 were over exposed today due to Herron, Perkins, Logie and Burgess tiring as the game went on, that was lack of game time but today will do them good... When you consider we had 4 of our midfield 5 missing today and the work rate of Sonner, I doubt if those 5 had been playing that the game would have been so open.. I think we'll be back to be being defensively sound next Saturday!

Lets not forget there were a number of players out there today that haven't had any game time recently, it certainly showed towards the end.

I really enjoyed today's game and thought it was a match when the hasbeens beat the wannabes! What I mean by that, is the experienced hands beat the young up and comers. Steve Perkins turned back the clock and surprised himself to smash home a brilliant goal .His sublime turn to beat a Ashford midfielder in the first half reminded me of his past glories and he certainly helped our cause today.

What was pleasing was that we tried to play passing football from the start. My concern was always going to be how long our ageing team and match rusty players were going to last the game,as proved when we were hanging on towards the end. However, the Slough team of today deserved the win, even it is was a bit close for comfort.

All the team deserve credit for proving there can be a winning Slough team without the usual faces.

It would have been appropriate if we had a couple of younger players on the bench today. to relieve some of the pressure off of our tiring older midfield, if we had any! We certainly could have done with Sam Bateman or George Coyle in that 2nd period. Adam Logie,Ollie Burgess and Steve Perkins all looked like they were nearly out of steam. Thought Shaun Byrne or Robbie Kean could have eased the pressure for the last 10 minutes.Surprised our management didn't make a change of some sort, when it was clear they were all pretty much knackered.

On a positive note, I would like to praise Dave Woozley, Ben Abbey and Chris Herron,as I thought they all had excellent games.

Chris Herron is a complete enigma, as he is technically as gifted as any of the players we have in our squad but for some strange reason that only he knows, he only gives us his magic in very small doses. What a player we would have, if he did the business on a more consistent basis, even if it was just for half a game. His goal came because of his quick thinking and should have put Slough out of sight.

I thought Ollie Burgess looked a technically good footballer and certainly at home in a team which tries to play purist, passing football. He doesn't seem much of a tackler,so should fit well into the team ! ha ha ha!

Looks to be a good addition to our squad, though.

Still amazed that we lack a midfield dynamo/strong tackler like a Darren Wilkinson type player in our team at times because a lot of our players seem reticient to get stuck in. We were certainly crying out for that sort of player in the final 15 minutes of today's match, when Ashford were getting ever more dangerous and growing in confidence.

Anyway, better luck than judgement, we crept over the line with all 3 pts, yippee !!!
