We have done Refs,Pitches,Clubhouses,Players, but what in your opinion makes a successful Manager.Winning a League and promotion,Winning a Cup,Player contacts,Money, keeping a team on limited resources where they are?The reason I ask is many Managers still command respect, who have in recent years Won nothing, and No new blood seems to be coming through, why is this?

Do you judge success on winning things ?

Does that mean that if your manager is with you for 2 years and you dont win anything they should be sacked ?

I hope not

the simble answer is long or short term. if your club is building for the future then the relationship with the commitee is key. if you can put a plan in operation over a number of seasons, the club will be stronger. but this can be killed if there is a wavering from players or commitee. players ofton have there heads turned by a shilling. at the moment at our level hanworth villa, are good examples.

1. Club and manager have to have exactly the same ambition on where the aims to be and what that involves.

2. A good understanding of the level of football they are managing.

3. As in all professions, excellent people skills.

4. A team of staff who he can trust.

5. A good skipper.

Job done

So would it be the case that you get the Level of Manager, like as Kroons and others have said with Referees, for the level the Players play at.Just seems like a merry go round to me,and Clubs showing no ambition, what is the point? There are a few exceptions to the rule of course, but mainly these seem to be Div 1 Clubs.
