Attendances

Recommended Posts

What can CCL clubs do to attract more people to matches?

For example, Friday night matches have worked well for us!

Are there too many clubs within the CCL catchment area?

Could the league do more to promote itself and its member clubs?

Is anything happening at matches that deters people from attending?

Should clubs invest more on facilities?

Debate! :feedback:

Get better refs ;)

Difficult one. Friday nights do seem a good idea but do any of the people come back. Try and encourage youth sections to get involved. Free season tickets for the kids etc.

Make it cheaper than 4-8 quid to get in!!!! I think £3-4 quid max for any CCL game is more reasonable in this day and age. More people would come and therefore spend more money at the bar!!!

Totally agree, lower the prices to make it more attactive and more will come in, spend money behind the bar/tea bar and probably generate more income in the long run.

Spend more money in the bar,so by your reckoning more revenue would be raised.Must say in the last 4 away games I have been 2,people watch then go home,so lowering your price only costs the Club money.Kids for free is the only way forward, new customers needed, rumoured Guernsey had loads of Lady supporters Saturday at Warlingham, but the whole Football experience is new to most of them.

The current financial situation ain't helping at all !

When expenditure has to be cut, obviously, luxuries must come a big second !

Advertise ourselves more. Go to local newsagents barbers etc. Say free programme advert if can have poster in ur window for match days.

Kids for free. Ask for ballboys from youth team,, give free burger and a coke to them. They're

parents will soon follow.

Godalming are inviting youth teams down on Saturday's. Give them coaching session and a look round before the game. Great idea.

The ballboys idea is a good one. Kids like to be involved and be part of "the team".

Local Radio stations are always looking for stuff to fill their time with - try to get a regular weekly 2-5 minute slot on air to promote the club and give a summary of the last and upcoming games.

But also air Special Offers like Free Entry games, free burger or whatever. Chop and change the offers but make them regular and maybe another few hundred will have been added to the season end aggregate gate.

A couple of weeks ago Romford had a game on a Sunday, and in an attempt to gain more interest in our club we offered free entry to season ticket holders of any other club, plus free entry to all under sixteens, all employees of all three emergency services, and anyone from the military. We had our highest gate of the season (156) and our last two games have produced gates slightly above average. IMO its increasingly difficult to get bums on seats because kids are brought up watching premier league football in the warmth and comfort of there own homes, and are not prepared to drop standards by watching what they consider to be inferior football. I also believe passionately that the bad language from players and supporter at non league level stops parents and grandparents taking their kids to our grounds.

I think a lot depends on location too

At Westfield i think we do ok for attendances our average this season is 105 (inflated with Guernsey game) but we have seeen a few 70+ games. I think the lure of being able to drink and watch the game from an elevated position helps! Our biggest problem is that we have Woking FC over the road.

I am suprised that some of the teams from towns dont have bigger crowds. Biggest one being Farnham - decent sized town. decent ground 5 min walk from town centre etc

Completley agree about some clubs charging OTT prices ! Anything more than a fiver is criminal ! Theres some clubs in div 1 that charge £6 !
