Must say Fizzer, I was pleasantly surprised with your pitch last night, certainly from comments I have heard in the past anyway....shame about the result though.

Milesy, a draw at Baggy Lea is not a bad result is it?

Pitch is 10 times better than it was last season thanks to a lot of hard work from a number of people at the club over the summer. It's never going to be brilliant but it's much better than it was. Same can be said for Banstead last night, best I have seen the pitch down there.

Hope you are well mate.

Hmm, no disrespect whatsoever to Badshot, but I dont think a point each was a fair result last night. It's my opinion, which people will say is obviously biased, but if we took only one more of the numerous chances we created, the game would have been won, (to be specific, after the first half). Their goal came from a clearance from our winger on the edge of the box, hitting their player and deflecting back in to the bottom corner. I did think they looked better than the previous two occasions we have played them this season, though, which isnt surprising given the players they have recently added to their squad. However, based on the 90 mins played, think BL would have been the happier of the sides with a point.

Im very well thanks mate, looks like you're having a good season so far. Hope it continues, stay in touch.

Are Referees not like Players at this level, show the same traits every game.Take the Ref at the Epsom and Ewell game last Saturday,Mr Kitchen did he want to be the centre of attention or what.5 times in the 2nd half alone he called the Skipper over when he was talking to a player,he booked one.5 Substitutions were made as well, yet only added on 2min 30sec stoppage time.5 BOOKINGS AS WELL.He was being assessed though so he had excuses,or did he?

Smudge

Did the referee say there was 2 mins 30 secs in time added on for stoppages or is that the time you had on your watch? Unless the observer and the referee's watches are synchronised before the game and then stopped and started at the same time thereafter then there may well be a difference in what time is played.

WIth regard to involving the captain, using him is one of the points of the Respect programme. If he chooses to do so or not then that is his call.

i HAVE TO ADMIT THE FARNHAM PITCH IS ALREADY BOGGY AND HEAVY AND HAVENT HAD ANY REAL BAD WEATHER YET

Farnham's pitch is always heavy, its not changed in years! We would like to invest in the pitch but we are busy spending all available funds on covered areas and seating for hundreds of people!!!! That fail to come and watch!

It was quite entertaining to watch but It might be wise to stop the subs pounding the goalmouth in the interval.

Ian Gould is umpiring in South Africa at the moment but when he's down at Stag Meadow if he sees anyone go near "his" goalmouth outside of the 90 minutes he is savage!!

Re Farnham support - certainly did look very sparse last night which is a real shame. Windsor fans must have out-numbered Farnham's by at least 2 to 1.

Still, the blonde haired lady tried to shout encouragement every 30 seconds or so - "Come on Farrrn-um!!!"

Not on 1 watch but 3 all started at the K.O. of 2nd Half, but suppose our watches are all faulty. The result would not of changed if he had 20 on it,but was just amazed at how he needed to be centre stage.Spoilt the game in my opinion.

So Smudge would you rather he had just cautioned the five players straight away instead of using the captain? Would issuing five yellow cards without using the captain made you happier?

How many of the five players eventually got cautioned? If the referee is able, in certain circumstance, to use the captain to help prevent the player from getting a caution then what is the problem?

1 Player of the 5 got cautioned, not an argument with that, but why did he not add time on?Or does he not have too.?

Reasons for Stoppage Time

soccer-stoppage-time-injury-howard-webb.jpg Howard Webb wearing two watches

The Laws of the Game highlight six reasons that can lead to additional stoppage time:

Substitutions – The referee should always allow for time lost due to substitutions.

Assessment of injured players – The referee stops his watch when a player needs medical attention on the field.

Removal of injured players from the field of play for treatment – When a player can’t continue, he must be removed from the field. This can eat up a lot of time, especially if the injured player needs to be stretchered off.

Wasting time – If the ref thinks a player is deliberately wasting time, he can add that time onto the end of the half.

Penalty kicks – The ref always adds stoppage time to account for time lost during penalty kicks.

“Any other cause” – That’s not a very precise law, but that’s exactly what it says in the Laws of the Game! Basically, the ref can increase stoppage time for any other random event that interrupts the game. That’s a good thing, because plenty of unexpected delays can occur: lost balls, damaged balls, floodlight failure, pitch invasions, stray dogs and chickens... Anything can happen on the soccer field!

....but then Smudge is always criticising the league, the FA and whoever else that cards cost players and clubs money, so ref's shouldn't book so many just talk to them, isn't that right Smudge ?

As a neutral Milesy, can agree with all you've said. South Park should've won in an impressive performance. Dominated the first half and shaded the second. Had the better chances and really should have put one or two more away. Having said that Foster had a decent debut in the home goal and made some smart saves. Good to see Tiny Temper back in the Badshot Lea line-up and scoring too.

Haha, Tiny Temper - great shout!

Didnt know you were there, TRS, Would be good to put some faces to names on here.

Yea thought the BL keeper did well, had heard they acquired a couple from Camberley. Thought the only other player that stood out for me was the right back, think he may have been their skipper.

Always seems to be the case when the assessor is present.

Not sour grapes because it's the same for both sides but Jeez the pitch was more bobbly than my 12yo plays on at the local Rec. Very difficult to play decent football as the players just couldn't get it under control.

Rother, if the pitch was that bad, tell your manager to have a 'Plan B' to knock long into channels and diagonals, turning their defence 'cos O'Toole has pace to burn.......if he's not lazy and fancies it. Then you have Porter is fit and very busy player who will do the hard work that needs to be done playing that way, he will be a nuisance........... just my suggestion, not all pitches in the CCL are as good as Windsors, wait until winter really draws in.... your management need to think hard about the forthcoming months as Windsor cannot keep dropping points, 'cos I cannot see Guildford dropping many ..........

May I add, I feel sorry for the Farnham players having to play on a pitch like that every other week, maybe that has something to do with their league position ?

NG, Nothing wrong with our pitch! Last night we took points off second in the table.!

Ace, I am not sure if you're a Farnham player, probably the groundsman...lol !

I can only reply on the comments made above, but Ace I have to say, it's not the first time the Farnham pitch has been criticised on this forum. Would be nice to hear some 'honest' comments about the Farnham pitch from their players (ie) BBM and any others.

NG,

if i had the choice to play on our pitch or a pitch like wembley, windsor, sandhurst etc then i would obviously prefer a better pitch. However, the players are all at Farnham to play for the management and other players in the squad. There's no money or great pitch to attract other players, just a good set of lads. We know it's impossible to play attractive football on it so we have a game plan to be effective as possible and giving ourselves the best chance of getting a result. We are capable to play on good pitches and get results but we can't always do that.

I dont think our pitch has anything to do with our current league position. Thats more down to inconsistency in players performances (including myself) and a constant change of team due to injuries and suspensions. One of our players of the year last year had his first start of the season on saturday since the first game of the season and others players who joined us in pre season have moved on. I have no doubt when we have a settled side like we did for the whole of last season we will pick up points and start climbing the league.
