It's just as well I couldn't attend as I would have had to leave after 90 minutes, I expect Leverstock Green not being able to secure Kevin Gallen's services for the evening was the difference between winning and losing.

No missing two important spot kicks was the difference, one in normal time and the other in the penalty shoot-out

Karen - Yes but Gallen would have taken and converted the penalty in normal time wouldn't he and Leverstock Green would have won.

And you know this, despite not being there.

As someone who was there I have to say that if the officials had seen the fact that the ball was a foot over the line early in the game then Enfield may well have gone on to win in normal time. Overall it was a fairly even, scrappy contest with neither side impressing me.

Doubtless you'll counter that one missing player would have made a huge difference. I doubt that he would have.

Gallen would have been on the goal-line to clear the ball before it (allegedly) crossed the said goal-line.

There you go, Rhodes. Saved you replying.

Sjj2112 - It sounds like it was a who’s who of Forum members at Goldsdown Road last night. Do you really think that a player who has played at the very highest level of the game would have missed a spot kick in, with all due respect, the company he now keeps, I don’t think so.

What utter nonsense you spout, how the hell do you know if Gallen would have taken over spot kick duties from Lee Bircham the normal penalty taker.............. Oh I forgot you know everything.

Karen - Lee Bircham had frustratingly missed his two previous penalties for the Club so it makes sense that Kevin Gallen would have picked up the ball and placed it on the spot at such a critical point of the game

I was there last night, Enfield did score it was over the line by a yard, so say our people. Our penalty miss was rather poor. The game last Saturday was much better. Spoke to PTG.

Uncle T - How come Lee Bircham was allowed to take the penalty in such a crucial game when he had missed his previous two for the Club

Rhodes - How come you were able to become a 'club official' at any club after the first time you screwed up?

Sjj2112 - I didn't screw up as you put it. I would have thought that you of all people could see my point about Kevin Gallen as if I'm not mistaken he was the penalty taker for most of his previous Club's.

Was on a game tonight with the Assistant Referee from yesterday's encounter and he says it wasn't. :(

Wednesday 23 November

BEDS SENIOR CUP First Round

2-3 AFC Dunstable v Leighton Town

A report from another's Forum:

Wednesday 23 November 2011 – Bedfordshire Senior Cup

AFC Dunstable (blue/blue/white) 2 – 3 Leighton Town (red & white stripes/red/red) Attendance: 88

I nearly didn’t go out, but I thought there was just enough on this game to make it interesting and that’s how it transpired. The teams were level at half-time, 1-1, AFC Dunstable taking the lead through a headed own goal and Leighton Town stabbing home an equaliser after the home goalkeeper failed to cut out a cross. The second half was a tight, until BJ Christie’s introduction livened up the home attack. Immediately, AFC Dunstable took the lead and were dominant against a lifeless Leighton Town attack. Leighton Town’s no.10, all six foot eight inches of him, contributed little and was always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Enter a Leighton Town substitute, Deji Ojuroye. On 89 minutes he sent a cracking shot into the top corner from 30 yards, then one minute later, deceived the home goalkeeper with an over-hit cross, which sailed over the keeper’s head into the goal. Star Man: Deji Ojuroye (Leighton Town)

Is that a tongue in cheek comment. You're up with the lark this morning, an early bird catches the worm doesn't it.
