Just to put that in context NG - it's population is about the size of Guildford

I wasn't there as it was one of my son's birthday. Sounded like a cracking game !

Ross's dad did play in the USA. I don't know the details though, someone told me he was a very good player as well.

Attendance was 323 on a very cold sub zero evening! I got to meet Smudgey and Green Fingers as I was doing the gate with a couple of others.

Didn't really see the first half, but some sloppy/gifted goals given to Guernsey and they played keep ball without breaking sweat from what I saw and in the second half.

It wasn't all one way though, Knaphill could've had 3 goals in the second half. Some good last ditch defending and poor finishing left Knappers without a goal!

Just back from the game and catching my breath. A scintillating display from Guernsey! Having watched them several times this season this was the best I have seen them.

Strange as it may sound Knaphill weren`t that bad but created their own downfall by having a go at the visitors early on and couldn`t seem to defend in enough numbers giving Allen and his support far too much space and time. 10 minutes in 1-0 from a cross that the home side will think they should have defended. Allen got the second before Knaphill could regroup as they pressed too high up the pitch and balls were being slid down the side of the two centre backs with ease - a cool finish from the leagues top marksman nevertheless. A whipped in near post corner that Allen headed home unchallenged making it three and just before half time a 20 yarder... again Guernsey given too much time to pick their spot and make it 4 at half time.

A much better start to the second half as Knaphill defended deeper and narrower frustrating Guernsey for a while with far less space to pick their passes. A momentary lapse of concentration though and Allen was in again to score his third and his sides 5th.

A rare foray into the Guernsey box and a back pass not given 6 yards out- come on ref...its hard enough without giving the visitors everything!

Last twenty minutes Guersney took Knappers apart with the left back (and my mom) Winch now playing left wing being constantly fed by Zico Black. Two missed one on ones, a couple of excellent saves and a brilliant goal line clearance with another 3 goals!

The lions refused to take pity and played out the game like they were 1-0 down! Wetherall (Knaphill's No 8) looked a very decent player and I`m sure they will climb the table now. Excellently hosted and a very enjoyable evening out.

Even met shifty who nicked a cigarette!

Didn't see you either! Be good to see the goals, missed so many of them on the gate. So you must be jinx for Knaphill, twice this season and we got drummed 7-3 and 8-0

I can't believe thow bad the ref was tonight he cost us the game!!! ;-)

Every one of there goals was off side and we should of had a Pen, so really we won 1-0! Lol!

All jokes aside Guernsey are a fantastic side and in my opinion I think they will get promoted 2-3 years on the trot, also I would like to add what a fantastic bunch of lads the whole lot of them are.

Oh by the way the ref did admit he made a mistake with the 6 yard back pass.

I also met Smudge tonight which was nice to put a face to a name.

As for what we are trying to achieve at Knaphill I'm very optimistic, I'm loving it at the club, it's hard to bring in the players you want mid way through the season but were slowly getting.

All the best to Guernsey FC and Merry Christmas to all the Forumites.

Made a few new friends tonight,Steve,Mark,Jez,Colin, what a nice bunch of peeps they are. I LOVE GUERNSEY.Lets forget the result, this was a winner for all that I like about the C.C.L.Hospitable,Friendly,Welcoming,Well organized, hats off to Knaphill, who left no stone unturned, and a decent crowd. The M.O.M. was for me Jason Winch (No 3),he had it all, pace, control, vision.Zico Black oozed class but had acres of space in which to do it,Goal machine Ross Allen was deadly as ever, and nice to see Dave Rihoy back from injury, with a cameo performance. Finally a word about the Officials Excellent, the Ref even apologised to Ellers and Guvnor No 1,for not giving Knaphill a free kick for a back pass, how often does that happen.Nice to meet Wattsy(head of Security) for the 1st time, and meet up with old friends at Knaphill. The mystery of the night was where did GREEN FINGERS GO.

Green Fingers had to go about 15-20 minutes in. He said goodbye to me on the gate and said he'd been called out to work. Never gets a call out and typically it happens tonight!! <_<
