What could be done better???

I know we have spoken about this before but what could be done better by the club or Supporters Association with regards to information coming out the club???

Things that annoy me are wasted opportunities for the bar to get the most out of it.Like Sunday, when tottenham came down, now i know that it was busy anyway but i feel that as a club we should be maximising the fact its open by publicising such events on our website or on here, but we don't get informed.

Other things are the youth team, there seems to be a lack of information coming out of the club/youth team set up with regards to when, where and who they are playing.

What annoys you or what would you wish to be done better???

Maybe we can speak to the club to try to ensure any of these issues are ironed out, maybe someone could be responsible for gaining information and making sure these things are publicised to the max

I think perhaps events/functions could have a bigger feature on our website?

some sites have a placeholding homepage like www.margate-fc.com which I'm sure is pretty beneficial in advertising maybe this is something we could look into although I'm not aware of the ins and outs our current site.

I also think we should perhaps look at http://lewesfc.com/home in terms of marketting etc as these guys seem to know what they are doing.

It goes without saying that we need like all clubs and businesses to attract paying customers be it through the gate and/or the bar.

I recall similar discussions on this forum in previous seasons.

I would,

Add a Social Club page into the match programme.

Let kids at Junior Schools/ under 12 in Free if accompanied by a paying adult.

This again to be published in the programme.

Thirdly group together two or more matches and offer

Incentives to attend. Even England have had to do this at Wembley for Spain and Sweden.

We do offer free kids season tickets to under 12's if accompanied by an adult.

I recently wrote to all the local junior schools advertising this and will re send the e mail a few days before the next home match (which is next Tuesday)

Tickets are a difficult one as it is extra costs to print individual tickets for games,Its not something we do unless there is a cup game.

As for the website,I understand Sid is standing down from website duties at the end of the season after a few years of great work.Perhaps someone could step forward to work with him for the last few months with a view to taking over eventually??

Stand by for a big rant (as Rob has lit my blue touchpaper!)

I knew nothing about Sunday's game. Had I been told I could have put a banner on the site.

On the subject of the youth side I do my best. I have had no contact with anyone on the youth Management side this season. I understand our only youth team this season is U16s as the U18s are our Capital League side. I do have U16s and Capital League pages on the website which I try to keep up to date by trawling through the fixtures and results on the EJA and CL sites. I also watch the Cassells Cup results via the Essex FA site. But I have zero input from the youth Management.

The communication issue is my biggest beef and the main reason why I am DEFINITELY packing it in at the end of the season. I know I have been saying this off and on for the past couple of seasons but Colin always got me to change my mind. This time its final. I have put up with the frustrations for five years so let someone else design a new site from the ground up ... but beware its tough with so little input from others!

On the subject of advertising, I have made requests to the Club for the names of sponsors so we could give them some publicity but I have heard nothing. That is why the 'sponsors' names on the front page are the same as for last season.

Our website is our 'shop window' and a way of enticing new blood to come and watch us. It dismays me sometimes when I read stuff in the Recorder which could (and should) have gone on our website first.

The trouble with 'rants' is they make you feel good for a while but then you get depressed afterwards when you realise nothing has changed.

Around 100 programmes mate.

Voucher could work

We have a Darts team, but it is quite shoddy and although we have the boards with stands i feel they are coming to the end of the road in as far as us progressing.

We desperatly need at least 1,if not 2 boards secured on the wall,so we can host tournaments and league games or more frequent games against other clubs.

I know we have recently decorated but if we are to step up playing darts we need secure mounts on the walls.

We are a football club and although we have functions and it may not be everyones cup of tea but the boards can be closed and don't look out of place.

We don't neccesarily need mats,we can maybe cut a whole in the carpets where the line is and insert a nice bit of wood or metal for the ochy. While the functions obviously help the club i think its vital to remember that we are a football club as well and a darts board/team is the sort of thing that these places have, both can work perfectly with a little bit of thought, consideration to the other,i think maybe the clubhouse isn't as well supported as it should be when it does open as it just doesn't feel like its ours

What could we do better?

It seems to me from the outside that if the website is not getting the up to date information from the club this needs to be sorted pronto. Someone from the Supporters Club, if not done already, needs to emphasise to Team that if they want committed support that they need to connect better with their loyal fans.

This can be with a regular update on team matters, injuries etc to small things like the goalscorers celebrating towards the hardcore fans.

We are all in this together and it's no good people getting pissed off and a gradual decline.

ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

It's not just the loyal fans,Its every fan that would potentially use either the site or the forum

One of the main reasons the previous owners managed to keep the gates up was the amount of information coming out of the club, while not everyone agrees on some of the things they did, getting information out there was what they were best at,the fans had something to talk about pretty much every day,the difference is now the people running the club are not neccesarily as focussed on modern technology as before. This is the main reason, also they all work for a living which means any spare time is taken up with club issues whereas before there was always a keyboard at the end of someones fingers and easier to get info out straight away,to an extent we was spoiled but it's a level of expectancy that our fans have come to expect.

All this is not a dig at the club but a way of trying to solve what seems an age old problem.

The only way I can think to solve it is for a couple of fans/workers to have a list of numbers from each youth team manager to the secretary/chairman or committee members and to gain information from them or to be contacted by those people. This could then go onto relevant areas of the website and onto the forum.

I do have contact with the club but alot of the time they are private conversations or ideas from the SA or the club,I can put certain things on the forum but can't do the website

Always wondered why football clubs rarely sell real ale in their club houses, one of our ex players (Tom Barnett) now owns a brewery at Sawbridgeworth and brews a wonderful beer called Brooklands Express. I'm sure Serious Sid would like to give it a try.

Also wonder why vegi food is as rare as hens teeth at football grounds. Some of us would rather starve than eat the crap meat products served almost everywhere.

I am not a fan of real ale but I feel clubs are missing a trick. If you sell decent real ale then the people buying it will come back time and time again.

You show live football in the bar and all the old boys would turn up to drink their ale.

As for veggie food, maybe a potato pie or something but not too much call for it although I do think football club food is sh1t pretty much everywhere. It's something I would change straight away.

Don't get me wrong,I would continue selling burgers & hot dogs but would gave balti pies or even a vat of curry and rice in the winter or something similar

I'll try the Barnett Brew too!

Agree with you, more clubs should sell real ale
