Slough v St Neots

Champions?! And no doubt on here if we lose on Tuesday we'll be back to being a pub team with no plan B and a rubbish manager!! That's not necessarily aimed at you Adrian, more at everyone getting carried away!

Let's not put more pressure on them by talking about being champions. It's only November!!

Thank you,Ian, for bringing as back down to earth. I suppose it's good to be optimistic than pessimistic but I think we're all getting carried away if we think we're going to be champions on the strength of one good win against moneybags St Neots, when we've still got 27 games to go.

We've got the winter pitches to come which will halt some of our football moves plus suspensions and unforeseeable injuries to contend with and still to play 8 teams who are in the top ten by the end of January !

So while I think we do have our best squad for sometime, I think we're jumping the gun a bit about being champions !

Good to see St Neots moaning about the state of the pitch - if they want to play on billiard tables then they will come unstuck a lot more this season.

Also them moaning about us playing the long ball up to our target men - quality!

Well fought game where the 3 points went in the right direction, showing that we can pick up points from the big teams teams with money.

Still think the leauge should have bought the cup down and presented it after the game, or is that a little premature?

readingrebel I couldnt agree more Tuesday will be a tricky one Its only a few weeks since they turned over St Neots 4-1 on their ground If we win this one I think we can start thinking of being champions

St Neots lost 4-1 to Northwood in September, St Neots then went onto beat Northwood at home 3-0 in October with only four members that featured in the 4-1 loss playing in the 3-0 win.

Good result for you guys, St Neots just didnt turn up until it was too late. No one going to say how good the ref was??? Especially after you game with Hayes.

St Neots can still come within 2 points of you if we win our two games in hand and have three games in hand over Uxbridge so I would say its a tad early to talk about winning the title, it could even go to the wire which will mean an exciting season ahead.

Yes, your right Manimal, the Ref and his two assistants deserve some praise because they were probably the best I've seen this season.

Had James not played a blinder in the second half it could have been a different result so I'd hope nobody is getting carried away too much. As for the referee I thought he was excellent. He could have awarded St Newts the first pen but like I said before I'd have considered us lucky to have been awarded it and I was at that end to see it. The second one wasn't even a good attempt by the number 10. On balance he could have red carded the St Newts player who took out Adam Martin with a studs up tackle which was thigh height.

Good to see some away fans for a change. Roll on Tuesday :-)

Ian We are Slough Town for God's sake playing leagues lower than we should be and we should be aspiring to be champions and that should be the goal we set the team I dont believe thats an unfair pressure just read some of the teams twitter remarks. Im sometimes accused of being negative but I believe I comment factually on what happens and I have said since the season began that I believe this is the season we should get out of this wretched league So many of the top teams last season lost their best players in the close season and we improved our squad We need to start having some belief Im sure the players would rather read that we think they can be champions rather than read a host of reasons why they cant. I agree with you that the tougher conditions are on the way plus injuries suspensions etc but those factors apply to all teams in the league. The only thing I (and a number of other posters) have concerns about is the number of recent bookings for dissent always avoidable and leading to suspensions.

there is no doubt we are capable of winning the league but everyone realises saying that now and actually doing that come end of the season is totally different and there sure is lots of work to do

suspensions are going to happen but unfortunately they could have been avoidable had we not got silly yellow cards for taking a dislike to decisons etc

very few positions in the team do not have more than adequate cover though and we shouldnt miss the missing players too much. Coyne is probably the one we will miss massively though as he has been insanely good this season

back to yesterdays game not sure i mentioned about the officials yesterday in previous post but fair play all 3 were strong and decisive in what was a big match. so so different to tuesday nights. just seen the penalty appeal against Brown on the footage and no way was that a penalty

No, I agree. With these players that absolutely should be our aspiration. My issue is suggesting we should start talking about being champions in November.

Reading the St.Neots forum, makes you realise that all football fans are the same. Deluded, accuse the ref of being against them, blame the pitch, best team ever when they win, worst team ever when they lose.

Let's just enjoy the moment and banish all talk of winning the league but get behind the team when we are winning or losing. Fantastic atmosphere second half in the shed. Still buzzin from all it all! Made the rail replacement bus ride home fly past.

Just seen the Non League Paper. Not doing so well in the fair play league!

Obviously not surprised by this.

As well as needless player suspensions coming up, the club is also starting to suffer financially.

I think it's getting to the point, like last season, where SB will have to consider taking measures to curb the uneccesary dissent to the officials.
