Guernsey FC v Feltham

Recommended Posts

i think its good i had a good chat with steve dewsnip? after our game an all involved want the best for the players an everyone involved with the club and are all pulling in the right direction from what i gathered in the conversation. i know its roughed up a few people and although we lost was a pleasure to be a part of the day guernsey do things the right way on the pitch an off it to!

We enjoyed the visit to Bedfont too. You've got a great pitch there and a brilliant club house. Our clubhouse is being built now I hope its as good as yours !.

Our aim is to bring a bit of colour and some good hearted banter to away games. Our travelling support is probably a bit of a novelty for the other CCL teams as well.

GD where is the new clubhouse that is currenly being built?

Next to the Garenne stand

I'm afraid not, the building next to the stand is going to be a gym, for the benefit of the rugby club and the islands 'elite' sports performers. Although the GFC supporters will benefit from a further 55 seats above the gym building!!! The athletics room upstairs is being extended and is going to be used by the rugby club as their club room, and I believe catering facilities are being built.

Cue Smudge!!!

Looking forward to tasting and comparing the food to other grounds when it is built, smudge what do you predict the score is going to be taking into account the cameras and Le god being present at the fortress footes lane (had a lesson about the spelling of footes)

FT GFC 2-0.

Allen with both goals.

I only saw the second half as I was playing football earlier but GFC didn't look at their best, Feltham looked dangerous a few times but overall didn't seem to be the best of games.

Felt the atmosphere was much improved though. The crowd of 1750 which i think is our record was excellent and really made the ground look a bit more filled out all round. I love a good flood lit game and felt it really added to the feel and though I can't say I'm much of a fan of dressed up mascot's the new mascot seemed to do a decent job when he could be bothered of getting the crowd going a bit.

Can''t say i'd be a fan of a band playing during the game either though it did sound alright. If I was playing I think I'd find it a bit annoying....Feltham players if any of you are here, how did you find that?

Guernsey did not play too well, two reasons, no Black and the fact Feltham kept going for 90 minutes. They played really well and were unlucky not to score. Good banter with the crowd too, especially their keeper.

The really big news is the major new signing that GFC unveiled today. Roary the lion is his name! Yes, we now have our own mascot!

Well that was our worst home performance to date but we still got a win which was pleasing.

Feltham played quite well early on but we soon controlled possesion although we nearly gifted them a goal or two through poor back passes ! They had a shot cleared off the line as well.

We had lots of chances to score ourselves mainly through headers. Ross Allen rounded their keeper and put it into the side netting, very unusual for him to miss a chance like that. But he made up for it scoring 2 great goals.

Attendance was 1,752 which is our highest yet.

The lion is called Roary.

It was a great afternoon and I'm sure the Feltham team enjoyed themselves, they were give a standing ovation from the crowd as they left the pitch and they all clapped back.  I have some laughing players getting lion hugs too..they are going on facebook.

Guernsey Donkey... I am as big a Guernsey fan as you but today your comments aren't quite inaccurate. Today was not the worst Guernsey have played by a long stretch. Got to give credit where its due mate. The reason why Guernsey looked average today was because their opponents, Feltham, put up one hell of a scrap. They fought the whole game. Their two centre forwards looked pretty good to be honest. Their number 7(?) who got substituted towards the end ran his legs off all day, he didn't stop working. GD, please don't take this in a nasty way BTW, but it wasn't our worst.

Did you watch its against Ash last week, thought we played better today....? PS we very much missed Zico?

Yes, we did not play at our best and I would agree we were not as good last week. Feltham really raised their game & I thought it was great entertainment. I was very afraid they were going to steal a point today. Well done lads, you scared this supporter!!!
