LATO – Yes there is, I think the Old Show Ground at S[****!!****]horpe was the first to sadly bite the dust. Why on earth would I spend time taking in the sights in the Cities you mentioned, what is there to see.

Well indeed, nobody is remotely interested in seeing any of those. Nobody in their right mind would travel from around the globe to take in such mundane sights. Heaven forbid that you show any kind of weakness by looking at anything other than a football ground.

History? It's all in the past.

Well if you went to Lincoln Cathedral you would find out why Lincoln City FC are nicknamed The Imps.

Okay presumably at some point when you started this odyssey when you were you saidI think younger than 18, there were 92 clubs in the Football League. Now given your age then and assuming a lack of large sums of disposable income (see I too can make huge assumptions) and the fact that you went just to the grounds by train, I am guessing that this was conduted over several seasons. Now although there was no automatic promotion/relegation there were some changes to the 92 clubs during the 1950s, 60s and 70s (off the top of my head the loss of Gateshead, Accrington Stanley, Bradford Park Avenue Workington Southport and Barrow possibly more). Now the question is did you continue with the original 92 as at when you started or did you amend it to the 92 that existed a few years later when you finished it. if so then are there some clubs that you went to that you shouldn't have or some you didn't go to that you should have. These things matter especially surely to a statisitcally driven person like yourself.

I suppose this would lead to some understanding of how someone could travel widely but have little to no understanding or experience of culture, history and difference outside of their own little village.

So I guess if you ever pass Stonehenge, Rhodes, you are heading for Amesbury Town FC?

Loosely - It's not that I have no understanding of culture and history, most of us on this Forum live in and around London but we're not forever in our spare time visiting Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, why would we.

Another gross generalisation there from you rhodsey.....you don't actually know that for certain about what forum members do in their spare time.

And as usual you didn't answer my question about the constitution of the 92 grounds you have been to and whether infact you went to some wrong ones...but then I wasn't really expecting an answer...why break the habit of a lifetime.

I'm beginning to doubt the veracity of this 92 grounds visited statement you know? Rhodesy has been telling some whoppers lately.

This is a totally specious argument. Go in to London on any Saturday in the football season and you will see supporters of clubs visiting the London sides wandering around taking in the sights on their day out "in the smoke." Nobody said you should be taking in the sights of London, although you should - every time I go in to town I find something new that makes me go wow, but that when you have made the effort (allegedly) to travel around the country to see a football match you should also take a bit time to see what else is on offer, after all you may never visit again.

You seem to revel in your ignorance.

LATO – You make a valid point however I’m talking about before all the cold and faceless new grounds sadly came into being, perhaps ‘original 92’ was the wrong term to use as I’ve never been to the six you highlighted however I’ve been to Wimbledon (Plough Lane), Wigan (Springfield Park), Hereford, Cambridge United, Peterborough and Oxford United (the Manor Ground) who replaced Workington, Southport, Barrow, Bradford Park Avenue, Gateshead and Accrington Stanley respectively.

You said that you had done the 92 before you were 18 - which given your DoB means before the end of the 1976/77 season. Wimbledon entered the league in 1977/78 and Wigan Athletic entered in 1978/79. If you are counting those 2 as part of your 92, and not Workington & Southport, then it means that you can't have done the 92 before you were 18...
