Reserves 2 Canvey Res 2 aet (won 5-4 on penalties)

Recommended Posts

An exciting game at Clarence Park this afternoon ended with the Saints Reserves winning through to the third round of the Fred Budden Trophy in a penalty shoot-out.

A goalless first half was followed by Canvey taking the lead but the Saints equalised with a goal from Scott Atkinson (who else?) to make it 1-1 at full time.

Tony Perfect scored in the first period of extra time to make it 2-1 to the Saints but Canvey pulled it back with 5 minutes left to go.

In the gathering gloom the first 8 penalties were all scored then Canvey hit the post with their fifth kick and Amadue Riley stepped up to make no mistake with the last kick for the Saints.

Any idea on the Canvey line-up and/or scorers Rob?

You've beaten our Official site by about a day with that news story Plus it's more in-depth than ours would be too.

Sorry, didn't get the line-up but Junior MacDougald was playing up front for you, had some nice touches but didn't score though. Forgot to mention your number 3 was sent off for two bookables and your manager was having a right go at the ref at the end (with some justification).

Now if I could just find the little sh*ts that tore my wing mirrors off while I was watching the game...

Crow and Junior were the only two with first team chances that I saw

If we imagine Premier league ref!s are dodgy you should have seen this ref, under 11s would have been beyond him, in fact one of his lino!s looked like an under 11

Albans looked like a team that had met each other more than once and were always likely to win

But

The under 11s lino called for a penalty save by the Canvey keepr to be re-taken (ST A player then scored) and it only goes to prove that youngsters watch too much TV

It really failed to alter the fact that over 90 minutes your ressies probably deserved to win

they looked as though they had met more than once before k!o but what about that ref??

Out of interest where were you Rob, I was standing in front of the stands if that makes sense
