When Guernsey Come Up

One of my fears when GFC came into the league was that teams would treat the visit to them as a bit of a jolly and treat the result/performance as secondary to the chance to have a weekend away. I would like to think that when they do play in the premier division next season, teams will visit them with the main intention of taking the three points, followed by enjoying the many charms of a lovely island. I cannot get to grips with the idea of just going there to make the numbers up. Surely we've all had weekends away before so, as pleasant as Guernsey is, it is not a one-off.

Get there for the game, prepare properly, do your utmost to get three points - just as you would when you visit Guildford, Windsor, Egham, and so on - then enjoy your evening away before going home on the Sunday.

I am sure that next season the home record will come under greater threat, as visiting clubs will be more inclined to treat the game as a normal competitive game, rather than just keeping the score down.

i dont thi nk teams go there to get spanked but you can see as soon as the first goal goes in normally quite early thier heads drop and wait for the onslaught.

 

I am with you that when they go up and they will go up they will find that it isnt as easy as they thought it was, i dont see Guernsey going up at the first attempt anyway i think a season or 2 will pass before they can manage that. And if they can get them selves into the Ryman league i feel they will of found thier standard, which isnt that bad in all honesty.
