Got him, he's mine (informing fellow player and when your about to tackle/dive in)

Get tighter/closer....get in his pants ! (tight marking)

Get in there ! (scoring a ball)

Do him ! (when making a ''tackle'')

Information to fellow player, he's coming your way, get hold !

Take him out! (when making a robust challenge)

Squeeze up (when defenders moving up)

Love it ! (good pass/goal/tackle)

Take me to bed ! (good pass/goal)

2 bob ! (useless)

 

NG: I have lived and breathed footie since the day i could walk (36yrs to be precise)

and i have never heard anyone shout Take me to bed ! (that includes the wife)

Were did that come from ?:

 

 

Yossa, I was playing for Stevenage at the time, when their (forgot who it was now, memory not as good as it was) manager said ''Take me to bed'' after a delightful pass by one of his players, so whilst standing near by, I went over to him kissed him on the cheek and said ''later''...... and promptly run off whilst being applauded.....those were the good ol days !!!

I played in a few games against Stevenage in my glory days at Hayes F.C. wHEN DID YOU PLAY FOR THEM ?

CRIES OF 'REDHILL'

 

IN FACT that game sparked off an unusual football tradition that can still be heard today. Without a 'keeper and down to 10 men, Redhill were reduced to kicking the ball out the ground everytime the Nomads attacked and each time, a cry of "Redhill!" was screamed by the supporters of both sides.

Over the years this spread around the entire country as both Redhill and the Nomads travelled the land, and when war broke out in 1939, the troops took it abroad.

Next time you're at a game, anywhere in the world and the ball is booted out of the stadium, you might just hear someone shout "Redhill!"
