Just a couple of things....

Papa Lazarou

Recommended Posts

Firstly I would like to say a big well done to Steve and the team - I have to admit that if I was in charged then he would have been sacked a long time ago but I have to admit to being suprised and I am big enough to admit I may have been wrong.

However, I would like to make the following 2 points if I may;

1) £10 for a pointless friendly agianst a Spurs under 13 team is a joke. Why are we trying to rip off a few Spurs fans and not using this as an opportunity to get a few new fans in through the door? I know of at least ten people that will not be going at this price - even Lazarou wouldnt have had the nerve to charge this price! Come on inner circle - lets have a rethink on this one!

2) Lets not call the stadium the Donkey Dome. It makes us sound like children and will make other clubs hate us even more.

I'm not here to argue and I really dont care what Enfield Paul thinks.

Cheers,

Papa

Let me make a couple of points or so to you too.

The 10 or so you say who will not be coming have their opinions and can save their £10 towards our first league game v's Soham or two cup matches v's Harefield and Sudbury, that's if they are real and true fans.

Secondly, I personally know at least 100-200 people who will be attending that are connected to the youth section that do not normally attend any games. Their view is that the 2 adult and 2 children family ticket for £20 is great value to watch the Tottenham stars of tomorow.

I love the nickname of the Donkey Dome. It certainly brought a smile from Ledley King, Jermaine Defoe and Joe Jordan When mentioning the nick name to them, this occurred in a short chat with them after the Fulham game today, with both Ledley and Jermaine saying they'd like to pop in and watch a game some time at the 'Donkey Dome' when not on Spurs duty. they certainly wished us luck on the celebratory day fixture v's Spurs X1.

And finally, the occassion will be better without you and your tenner passing through the turnstiles.

I say take everyone's money but we need to make sure that everyone is clear on what level of Spurs team it is that visiting.

I don't agree with EU on that comment unless EU is prepared to pay the £10 that we would not have if PL didn't come.

First things first, I agree with you Steph, we need every £10 we can get. Secondly don't be taken in by PL, he is not a Town fan he is one of our rivals who is all jealoused up, finally I'd be more than happy to pay my £10 on entry and watch what is well documented a Spurs X1 and not Tottenham Hotspur FC. I think the club have made it clear that Les ferdinand and Tim Sherwood manage the development team and thats what we are gonna get.

Saying that, our first team will have there work cut still.

I don't mind jealous rivals attending so long as they pay their £10.

In a capitalist system money has been used to pay bribes, prize fighting, drug dealing, buying rings, alimony, pay fees, child maintenance, taxes, wages, compensation, medical breakthroughs, research, admission fees, professional fees, children's toys, pornography, wedding gifts, dowries, books, prizes, funeral fees, buy guns, tanks, ships, aeroplanes, pay reparations etc all without conscience, morality, jealousy or greed.

Having been to the museum of financial history on Wall Street I wanted to get the full quotation it is on little phials of dollar bills that have been shredded and which you can buy but I cannot find it even on the internet. Though the quotation and the profound ideas it presents did impress me not enough to buy a phial.

We played west ham youth pre season,we charged £5.If you are seriously going to charge more than your usual rate I would seriously re consider.Football is not always about money,at least it shouldn't be at this level.

You will undoubtably Market this game as a spurs x1,many people will turn up,get annoyed they have paid £10 to watch kids and you will never see them again.

As for the donkey done,I have seen this name mentioned before and assumed it was Tongue in cheek, can't believe anyone could call a ground that, surely someone could think of something better

It's actually called the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. But the address is in Donkey Lane, hence as you say tongue in cheek The Donkey Dome.

Enfield Harriers used to have the nick "Donkey Lane Striders". I learnt this from a colleague who was a sprinter with them.

Just think we could work with the stables at Clay Hill and aquire a Donkey on match days as a mascot. That might bring the kids in.

What a cracking idea.

You won't get many kids on a donkey as that would be cruel.

How about bring your own!

Donkey dome - The name is good fun.

So when we play Cheshunt or EFC 90210 at home we would have a Donkey Derby :evil2: I'll get my coat!

Well we do have a track! Excellent for mascot races. Great Wakering Rovers have a very active mascot who could certainly be encouraged to run round the track. Who can we get to dress up?

Eyore but that maybe obvious. Burro is Spanish for donkey which I think sounds good but then it has no relevance to ETFC (unless we sign a Spanish player) wasn't there a donkey called Tony Adams :D

As for who should wear it, maybe it should be a forfeit for the players to wear, maybe whoever is late for training etc is made to wear it!
