I would feel alienated if I bought a season ticket and then watched all and sundry get in for nothing, get a free pint, burger and a programme and then fcked off the next week to wherever the great non league bargain was.As much as clubs want extra fans they want them there to watch the football not because they can get a free drink and evening meal there

I would hardly call offering a free burger which probably costs less than 50p to produce a gastronomic adventure, and a free pint would be roughly 25% of the admission price, which could mean you gain 75% of something rather than 100% of nothing.

I just find it so amusing that you constantly refer to us good old Romford Boys as being geriatric old neanderthals, when your attitude to progressive customer relations is almost prehistoric.

And in one word you said the problem "results"

The other problem is that neither club really "sells" their home games. It is a bit difficult for Romford, playing at Aveley, but I believe the only two real waysof getting the gates up are winning games and selling the games by going out, putting posters everywhere,or meeting the public. We have tried posters but to be honest we get 3 or 4 people doing them and after a few games they get fed up that no one else helps

Your dead right about meeting the public Rob, the day before the Lieston game I stood outside D&R giving out leaflets and was amazed how much interest there was in RFC, the problem is though that Aveley is not the easiest place to get to.

Chelmsford have thought of an idea that may make them a few bob, they are having a nostalgia evening next Thursday evening and have invited all us old boys that remember the days when up to 8000 would turn up for a local derby.

I hear you was ejected from the dagenham area for not having permission to hand out leaflets

Wasn't ejected but I was asked to stop giving out leaflets. As a compromise they announced what we was doing on their tannoy before the match. A great example of two clubs working together IMO.

I like D&R but their currant form suggests they could be back in non league football next season, and for a selling club they don't seem to have anyone left worth buying, to balance their books.
