7-1 Hoddesdon Town v Welwyn Garden City

 

A really bad day at the office, reports reach me that we were second best on the day. Five cautions and one dismissal, guess I'm going to be a very busy secretary this week.

 

I refer you to page 26 of The FA Discipline Handbook.

 

Yes Peter I know £150 fine and no appeal available. Am waiting till I have spoken with several people who were at the game before deciding on whether a report is required about the referee. Have e-mailed them with a breakdown on how to mark officials as laid out in handbook and will discuss fully with them tomorrow.

 

I wonder how many Clubs fall foul of this rule each season.

I watched this game yesterday and it's pretty simple to be honest....Welwyn got beaten by a side that just wanted to play football not kick the other team off the park!

 

They were on the refs back from the word go, he had a dodgy first 20 minutes but then welwyn made it easy for him, they kicked and he booked!!!

 

I don't think the back 4 playing a high line helped as hoddesdon were just lifting it over the top from a number of players also the wgc keepers kicking was poor.

 

I've nothing against wgc before people have a moan up, I've always been a fan.

Thanks for your honest views, as the saying goes 'there is always two sides to a coin' and I for one respect your comments and I look forward to hearing the comments on the Hoddesdon Town website in due course. Living in Yorkshire I don't get to see any of my club's games so obviously I can only state what I get told. If the offences warranted a card then I have no qualms and we will have to take our medicine as laid out by the governing bodies of the game.

Fully agree with the 2 sides of the coin comment, I'm not a fan of hoddesdon and I used to be involved with wgc a few years back and always look out for your results.

 

I thought the ref could have used a bit of common sense with the sending off, your guy was on a yellow when he was pulled up for handball, you could see the hoddesdon centre back saying not to send your player off but he did. Think he may have been your skipper?

 

I know your manager wasn't impressed and had a long chat with the ref on the sideline during a break in the game!

Yes the player dismissed was the skipper and I also heard that the Hoddesdon Town player had asked the referee not to book him for the handball to avoid sending him off.

I've seen the link where it states the team had 4 players sent off.

 

That would take them down to 7 players.

 

They can continue with 7 in accordance with Laws of the Game.

Competition Rules say how many players you can start with. I know of League's that require a minimum of 8 to start with but can go down to 7 during the game.

 

I can't find in the SSML hand book what would cover this fixture.

 

In theory, 4 could have been sent off and another injured thus reducing the team to 6 players.

Club will also be charged as well plus if a 6th player picked up a card there is the additional fine.

 

Could be quite expensive for the Club once the fines are totted up.
