Flippers and Snorkels at the ready or can I get away with moulds?

As we've hit our first week of bad wet weather, how are you pitches holding up? Has this made your surface decent and done it good or has it come down too much and threatening your fixture tomorrow?

Playing at Horley Wednesday the pitch was nice but very heavy and soggy, cutting up in places, I wonder how that will fare tomorrow?!

Also driving to Staines this morning for work there were a lot of floods and the police close off Thorpe Park roundabout so they could pump away the flooded road!

Hopefully Spelthorne is tip top and ready good to go tomorrow ;)

Our drainage is superb and so this heavy rain should make the pitch lovely tomorrow against Molesey!

Yes WP, I kept reading last season the compliments given about WP pitch when most other games were called off. Has the slope got something to do with it and helps with the drainage ?

For the above reason, I watched one game last season at WP. Nice people and busy clubhouse, a good place to be, its a shame they cannot get any work done to improve their facilities........ unless something recently has been forthcoming regarding this matter. Can you inform us WP ?

No the slope doesn't affect it. roughly 5-6 seasons ago we got new drainage put in place which after a few teething problems worked superbly. If anything it drains too well and won't take a stud after a heavy downpour so if there is no more rain then this may well be the case tomorrow.

It's a great set up there, especially now the new changing rooms are in place (second season now) and also the clubhouse has had a massive refurb to make the bar even bigger!

In terms of facilities needed to be put in place in order to stay in the league (or at least go up), one of them I understand is to have a car park put in place. This is something that can't be directly done as we have a small 'river' on the boundaries of the club and so we would need to build a bridge in order to make a car park within the club grounds. This I cannot see happening as the 'river' is lined by trees and so a large number of trees would have to be cut down in order for this to happen which I can't see the council agreeing to.

With regards to the lights, the football section are still trying to fight the corner for getting lights. Unfortunately it is an athletics club and so there are other sport sections which have a say in the matter and for some reason they are opposed to this. I don't understand why as it would generate more revenue for the club and allow more football to be played not just by the senior football teams but also by the youth team.

If it comes to the deadline and we still don't have lights, then I have heard of a ground share taking place. Where, I do not know.

I wish you did have a car park. Got to ground slightly late when we played you a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find anywhere near. And when I did I put 2 wheels slightly on kerb and got 110 pound fine for blocking the pathway. My own fault Lol. We took 5 cars and 3 of us got fines.

I remember when we played you a couple of months ago and there was a massive monsoon just as we kicked off. The pitch was lush and help up very well! Always been a nice ground in the summer/autumn time but is prone to chewing up in the down hill half. Hopefully thats all sorted now

I see the pink pigs are dodging those rain-drops that AREN'T falling as I type.

I was at Meadowbank yesterday afternoon and the report I got from there mid morning today was 50-50 at best.
