DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

Terrific news just announced today on the official club website.

To celebrate the opening of our new home at the Queen Elizabeth stadium, Town will be entertaining a Spurs XI ,managed by Les Ferdinand and Tim Sherwood, on Wednesday 16th November KO 7.30pm.

This is definitely an unmissable night for football lovers everywhere, to come along and take a look at our new stadium, see some great football, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy an unforgettable occasion,

It is also an opportunity to show appreciation and thanks to our board members and loyal supporters, who have put so much time and effort into this major project, over many months, to turn our dream into reality.

Well done everyone.

Well, it was mentioned in the Non-League Paper and on last night's Non-League Football Show. Paul Millington did a short interview at the end and plugged it then. Presenter Caroline Barker also half-promised to get him in the studio. Maybe next Monday?

Yesterday's Non-League Show is here. Interview from 53 minutes 16 seconds in.

Non League Web site notes our move to the New Ground and reports games v Harefield, Sudbury and Soham.

But

No mention of Spurs XI match.

A missed oportunity ?

Be a better idea to get it on the Spurs website & if they're at home before our game, in the Spurs programme.

With Defoe not in the England squad and with no game for 2 weeks there could be a strong possibility of him getting at least 45 mins. It would be nice to see a few squad players that haven't featured much for spurs this season and who aren't on international duty get a game as that would help boost attendances. Is there anyway the club can enquire about what sort of squad they are looking to send? If its going to be an U18 side fair enough but if Spurs intend to send a few 1st team squad players we could promote this to get a larger gate.

Having said that I recall a friendly against West Ham back at Southbury road which we were lead to believe was going to be a strong team and they turned up with youth team players

Why not??

Most first team players will be playing internationals over the 2 weeks thus keeping match fit. JD is not selected and also has not been a regular starter for Spurs this season so this would give him an opportunity to get a bit of fitness.

I'm also hoping Gomes will play (not sure if he's on international duty though) as we then have a good chance of winning lol

Obviously I'm not expecting big name players i'm just thinking from Spurs' pov with players not playing regularly this is an ideal opportunity for those players to get a run out and so we may well see one or two players that are known.

Its not going to happen,if a top player got injured playing a friendly at enfield a week before a prem game the fans would go mental, for the clubs its not worth the risk.

you may be lucky and get a recovering star coming back from injury but unless your pitch is of football league standard this time of year they probably wouldnt think about it.I would love to be wrong but premiership football is so far removed from ryman football that the best you can probably hope for is just the name tottenham bringing fans in,not the players. If it was pre season then yeah, they could send a strong side but this time of year itsw of no benefit whatsoever to the club and lets face it,premiership clubs only really care about themselves.

I'm sure for all the Townies its the occasion and the realisation that a new era has just begun thats important and not the quality of the opposition. When Romford finally come home I wouldn't care less who the opposition is for our first match.

The match will be promoted on the official Spurs website and on their channels from Monday. They will also have their press representative at the match.
